Im pretty sick of waiting around. Unlike many of you I don't have 20 years of memories of us bashing teams to get me through this time. I never saw Montana play a single game in a Niners uni and I was only in the states to watch Young in 97 and 98 before the Williams hit in 99 (which, of course, I was fortunate enough to witness). Despite all of this I'm still the biggest Niners fan I've ever met (Esco being the only other Niner fan I've ever met who I feel is as big of a fan as I am)
So all this losing week in and week out, year in and year out is starting to really piss me off. I've been hearing "wait till next year" for a while now and I have no reason to believe we'll be any better next year.
I'm sick of falling for it and I'm really sick of losing game after game that, if our coaches would just act like they are actually professional football coaches, we would win.
So here's my reality check: In my time of watching the Niners, this team has been nothing but a loser who has had a couple playoff years and it's bout time for me come to grips with that instead of me telling myself "at least we used to be dominant" for a time I never even got to witness.
I'm angry.
I feel the same way. It gets old seeing threads where people presume to tell us what we should expect as fans. Is it too much to just want to see improvement, and root for your team in the playoffs with some regularity?
I don't expect the dominance of the 80's, but at least play to a level where they get 9-13 wins per season and are consistently in the playoff race. When a head coach takes over a team that finished strong and then proceeds to guarantee playoffs and the team starts 3-1 (nearly 4-0) I think we are well within our rights to scream a great big "WTF?" right now.
The NFL is selling a product, just like any other business, and right now our franchise of choice is not delivering a quality product, and as consumers we have every right to demand better.
Trouble is, I feel the root of the problem lies all the way at the top in the ownership. I had hopes that Jed would be able to right the ship, but so far it just looks to be more of the same.

You know what im tired of waiting i gotta be real but for a different reason than most.
Here's a reality check:
I'm tired of a new OC every year.
Tired of changing QB's every year.
Tired of not having a thousand yard WR.
Tired of not having a qb playing a whole season.
and above all, for the strongest part of our team supposedly.
I'm tired of suck ass teams looking their best when they play against us.
And overall, tired of those b***hin about one player, instead of the issues with the whole team.
Isnt it funny tho, how Football is supposed to be a team sport, but some of us fans in here, think it's about one player.

I think that any intelligent, objective person would look at this team and see that serious changes need to be made in order to make it a contender.
For starters, the OL and the pass rush have been two areas that have not been addressed since Nolan first took the job as HC!... A good organization would have realized the importance of those units and took appropriate steps to improve them, and quickly. Those units are no better today than they were four years ago.
I also think it is safe to say that this team has consistently overrated its talent in the past few years....and...it is getting outsmarted by opposing coaches week after week. Personally, I believe the entire front office needs to be replaced. Scotty has not filled out the roster with enough talent to win....period. He has had 4 years now....that is enough time. Sing just doesn't seem to have enough flexibility or creativity to really flourish as a HC. Raye? Well....enough has been said about him in the Zone.
Just facing reality guys.....look at the way these guys are playing....this is not a playoff team and it really aren't even that close to being one. Sad but true.
One suggestion.....Holmgren as GM next year and a young innovative HC and OC.

The fact that we started TC with the so-called QB competition, and then switched to the QB that lost out in TC...says a lot about that spot. We simply don't have a legitimate QB.
What the heck is this spread offense? So Alex can only function as a QB if there are 3-4 WR sets all the time? What that says is he is a "limited" QB. We can't win with "limited" QBs...I believe Shaun Hill was replaced just for that reason.
Everyone knows our OLINE is bad, and to add to that, Staley got injured. The OC, well, no one knows what he does, and frankly, we need not...as long as we keep winning games.
Since we are 4-6, the HC has to take some heat. This is especially true after Singletary himself had promised a spot in the playoffs.
Let's see what the next few games bring about. Maybe we'll have more of those 4 WR sets and maybe Alex can also throw for 400yds. Heck, if Alex can turn this thing around and prove that he was worth getting picked in the 1st rd (forget 1st overall), all the credit to him.
This season will be called a success only if we made the playoffs. There are no neutral zones or moral victories.

Your exactly right man. We have talent but we still need to improve in a few key areas.

That's a recurring theme this year, and the ultimate crime in this case.

That's an alarming issue. How do you have 3 extra days to prepare for GB and come out flat in the first half?

I'm tired of waiting and tired of losing. I love the niners but they keep disappointing me. Either way I'm glad we have only got blown out once because the players still feel like they can compete with any team. I'm praying for 10-6.

It might be unfair to tie Singletary to Nolan's regime, but it is what is. Singletary is just an extension to Nolan-McCoughlan.
Singletary has been here the duration, even though not a decision maker.
When people claim they are still rebuilding, I feel it is necessary to correct them. This team is not rebuidling. This is the team they built.

A lot of rookie coaches make the playoffs. Remember the Falcons last year? Stop being a blind Raider fan type. We have sucked long enough. This is a historic franchise. You are probably a younger fan, but older niner fans are disgusted with this BS. This is the NFL, no excuse in this million dollar game. Wtf makes you think next year will be different?

I got spoiled by watching the team win for 18 seasons, I am tired of losing, but the fact is we have no control of the situation. It pretty much boils down to man up and deal with it or go root for another team. You can't continue to be knee jerk and change the whole organization every other year or you will become the raiders. No one is going anywhere this off season, maybe after next season, but we have to deal with what we have been dealt.

First off, this is sings first year, anyone who though we were making the playoffs is an idiot. Secondly, this is rayes first year implementing his offensive system, if teams picked up an offensive system in 1 year, Tod Haley's Chiefs would be superbowl contenders. Thirdly, Alex Smith came in halfway through the season without developing a rapport with the 1st teamers, oh and did i mention our starting receiver is a rookie. You people with your complaints of fire sing and start Nate Davis, I seriously think half the people on this board are mentally unstable, and i'm serious about that. Everybody just needs to shut up and look for constant improvement each week, which in all honesty, even it's for a half, i am seeing. We will be legit next year, we finally have franchise players we just need a year of stability. Everyone please calm down and just sit back and relax.
Mariucci made the playoffs in his 1st year. Anyone who thinks that we should wait decades every single time we hire a new coach is also an idiot.
Wow. You think the situations they walked into were similar? They weren't. Not by a long shot.

Totally different situations, but it still proves my point: you can win with a rookie HC. Many teams have. To me, that's just as bad of an excuse as Singletary saying that we're a young team.
