What are talking about bro?! We never kicked a field goal in that game.javascript:qdS('');

I bring this up because watching that game, it sure as hell looks like Crabtree was open enough to make a lot more catches. I think Smith might be under orders to look elsewhere intentionally. That's the kind of thing Singletary would do.

Lol...Singeltary is not telling Smith to not throw to Crabtree...its only 2 games...he did have the 1 drop because he slipped coming out of his route last night as well...I suspect that he and Smith are still getting on the same page. It is clear that Smith is more comfortable throwing to Davis, Gore and to a lesser extent Morgan. If Smith and the offense continues to progress and Crabtree keeps working, he'll be fine and his numbers will be there at the end of the year.

That's my feeling. Because Crabtree's neck injury, Smith and Crabtree didn't get to practice much together near the end of the training camp. When Smith looked Crabtree's way in the game against Seattle, he got burned really quickly: 2 interceptions, with one going in for a defensive TD. Therefore for the time being, Morgan is the go-to WR until Smith feels comfortable enough with Crabtree.
I suspect it will take a couple more weeks before he has his timing down with Smith and starts getting the ball.

Sitting in the stands watching the game and seeing a guy open does always mean that he is an available receiver. Many times one guy's job is to clear out a zone so someone else can get the ball. Other times it is just a matter of timing or progression as to who gets the ball.

Right now Crabtree has a lot of catching up to do both in his timing and his relationship with his teammates. It is something teammates never talk about but the stuff that was going on in TC along with his elitist attitude in not talking to the media will not be taken well by teammates. It is one of those intangibles that has some undefined impact on teammates.
this thread is so last year.

It's because Alex likes to make the safe check down throws.

That's always been my biggest complaint with him. He dumps it off even when he's not getting pressured. However, he improved a lot yesterday. He was doing it in the beginning of the game, but by the end, he kept the play alive and was looking down field. That was the best he's ever played.

I think a big part of it is that he's not able to get into a rhythm when we open the game running so often. Plus, he's forced to throw in way too many third and long situations. I hope Raye lets him keep airing it out. He could use the experience and the confidence. Plus, our running game is most effective when we commit to the pass.

What really frustrated me in the game against Seattle was that when the 49ers got close to the redzone of the Seahawks, and Smith seemingly got some traction with his passes, Raye called a bunch of run plays. Because the running game was not really working in that game, that killed any momentum that the offense had, and the passing rhythm that Smith had earlier was lost. The call mix in yesterday's game was much better even though I thought that Gore was overused. The team will need him in the tip-top shape if it makes the post-season.
there treating crabs as if he is a rookie remember he missed all preseason so the chemistry is not there between smith and crabs
It cracks me up to hear armchair QB's that have never taken a snap at any level criticize a QB for not throwing to a receiver when he was hitting everyone else. You guys have no idea how little time you have to see the open receiver once the ball is snapped. It is easy sitting on your couch, at a bar, or in the stands to see a guy is open. You are sitting above the play and don't have 250+ pound guys trying to put a hurt on you.

The problem fans have is they don't know the play design, don't know the progressions, can't see which passing lanes are available at the precise moment the ball has to come out, and a couple of other things that fans have no idea about.

As silly as this sounds, i wouldn't be at all surprised, seeing how Sing has his favorites.

On what actual facts do you make that judgement?
I think it's just a matter of chemistry with Alex & Crab...and you can't really get mad if Morgan and the highest paid TE in the league are Smith's first two reads.

Give the 11/15 connection time to develop, they will be a force later this season, and you can take that to the bank.
How bout this? Why doesn't Crabtree just focus on making catches when the ball is thrown to him. Yes, he's a great weapon, but he's shown nothing this year for the attempts going his way - including a tip for an INT. Guys, just calm down while the offense just cleans itself up and he'll get his touches. You Alex haters are ridiculous.
Hell yeah wide open arms!

Crabtree is grabbing getting the no 1 corner each night and is not gonna sneak up like he did last year.

Give it time. That connection will get better. I'm not worried about it.
