On a positive note, we have a great WR core.

While I felt differently beginning the season, the WRs are just not getting good separation. I hope Jones brings something to the table, because our WR core is no better than the past few years.
Our receivers as a group average 80 yards a game right now (255 yards combined). There's 8 receivers and 1 tight end that have more yards by themselves than our receivers do as a group.

But we have a great core

lol

sorry, but it's far from "great".

if anything, we have two interesting young receivers with potential-- one of whom hasn't done much this season and the other hasn't even suited up for any games.

Bruce and Spurlock I can't imagine playing another season with this team. Jones is kind of the X-factor, we don't know what we have there. Battle is consistent, a nice part of a platoon, but again, consistency doesn't matter when the ball isn't getting thrown.

So...yeah...not much to get excited about yet.
i say cut spurlock or battle and promote hill.
so if we sign back both Brandon's (Lloyd & Williams) would we have a HOF WR core?

Hopefully Jason Hill and Brandon Jones step up this week. I know they can if given the opportunity.

If our WR core was so great, why did we waste a 1st round draft pick on one?

Thank God we have Vernon Davis.

Brandon Jones- got the FA money, looked good in pre season, time to put some trust in Jones.

Josh Morgan- Can you imagine if he was in another offense. Look how good the Manning brothers make WR's look. Morgan can make plays, put some trust in him.

Jason Hill- See above.

Arnaz Battle- Can move the chains, has Hills trust

Spurlock- ??

Along with VD, Gore, Coffee, the niners can move the chains with this group. Jones is the speedster to stretch the field.

Lets give this WR core a chance to do more than block. Throw them the ball and lets see what they can do.

or you could say:

Bruce - old and hasnt been much of a factor this year

Jones- hasnt played a regular season down yet. was overpaid.

Morgan- has disappointed so far, almost nonexistent in our passing game.

Hill- looked promisiong last year, but since the start of camp has frustrated 49ers coaches with his lack of improvment

Battle- decent backup possession receiver

Spurlock- somehow he didnt get cut. might only be useful for "taser" formations, cept they havent worked at all, and the wildcat is useless. he cant throw, so wheres the point in running him out there?

im not trying to be negative, but our WR's arent great. they arent even good. theyre mediocre at best. Morgan was our ray of hope, but our passing game just looks too conservative to get one player the ball on a consistent basis.

On Morgan that is because of playcalling and Shaun has failed several times at finding him, even when he's been wide open
