Is there any way Patrick Willis won't be the highest paid defensive player?

Patrick Willis doesn't need money, because he takes what he wants and there's nothing you can do about it.

Nnamdi Asomugha is the only one I can think of that would command more money because he is a true shut down corner.

Why would he be the highest paid defensive player...? He's an ILB. The true difference makers like DE, OLB in the 3 - 4 and CB should be the highest paid defensive players in the league.
Him and his agent are dreaming like CrapTREE if they think he will be the highest paid player. He will be high paid sure but he doesn't provide 22 sacks a year or something. He'a an ILB.
Wasn't Ray Lewis the highest paid D player at one time? Am I trippin'?
No way he should be the highest paid defensive player. I don't know about Ray Lewis and don't care. Demarcus Ware and Shaun Merriman (when healthy) have a much bigger impact on the game. The CB's from the Jets and Raiders might have just as big of an impact or bigger.
His contribution is overly stated because this is a homer 49er page. I'd trade him straight up for Demarcus Ware right now. A guy who can provide 20 + sacks is the true difference maker.
Now you're trippin, but I expect no less, so I'll just at all of this.
You seriously wouldn't want Ware or a 100% healthy Merriman over and above Willis?
While a guy like demarcus ware, who can rush the passer, is definitely worth his weight in gold..... you would have to be out of your mind to give up Willis, a guy who can do it ALL, for a pass rush specialist. How many sacks do ware and merriman have so far this year? If the rest of the D is weak, OC's can and will scheme those guys out of the game....just like they have so far this year to merriman and ware. If you honestly dont appreciate Willis' impact on this defense as much as it seems you do, you may want to sit down and watch some tape or listen to what ALL the experts have to say about him. PW will be the highest MLB in the league, easily, after this year. I would take a guy like Ware ANYDAY to be on the field with PW, but there isnt a LB in the league I would trade PW for straight up. Not even close.

You're talking to a guy who predicted us to go 1-15 this year. He doesn't know much about the sport.

Not surprising. I guess some people love to advertise their ignorance and lack of any football knowledge.

We should just give Willis whatever he wants for this new deal. Heck, I'd scrap Crabtree and use the money on Willis' deal.

I don't expect him to get paid more than Asomugha who was signed to a ridiculous contract by senile, Al Davis. He deserves big money, but he won't be the highest paid defensive player by a long shot.

There is no better way to describe Patrick Willis then:
"I love Patrick Willis's beasts and very good blitz to defense.. P'willis is so best that good damn.."
