Curious if you guys saw this stat.

The 49ers' Shaun Hill remained among the NFL's four highest-rated passers on third down even though San Francisco failed to convert any of its 11 opportunities during its Week 3 defeat at Minnesota.

Comp. Att. Yards TD INT Rating
Eli Manning
22 31 296 4 0 140.6
Drew Brees
22 30 253 3 1 117.8

I hope in the future when we have a chance to end the game on Offense we actually try to make a 3rd down throwing the ball.
haha... I wonder what all those Hill complainers will say now.....some of them were trying to use that 0-11 3rd down stat this past Monday, against him....even though we ran it on 3rd down a couple of times...and there were also catchable balls dropped (like the one to Coffee)

A dump off on 3rd down would pad the stat.

he's got the 11th highest qb rating link
Those 3rd stats are all fine and dandy, but lets see where Hill stacks up with the 3rd conversion stat! Don't get me wrong, I'm pulling for Hill. I rooted for him to win the starting job this season and last season. But if you need 8 yds on 3rd down and only throw for 5 yds, it might as well be an incomplete pass.
Who gives a rats ass about ratings when the third down wasn't converted? 0 for on 3rd down conversions means more than QB rating on third down.

By the way bro...

At the end of the day he still our QB, he does what is is ask to do and he does pretty good, I wish our coach trust him alittle more, on that situation at the end of the game if we would have gotten that 3rd down they had already burn their time outs that would have been the game for us.

lets see his passing attempts on 3rd downs are comparible to that of Brees Eli and Rodgers. but it Rayes fault all we do is run run run punt.

Giants 44 3rd downs made 22
9ers 44 3rd downs made 12
packers 36 made 12
saints 41 made 20

edit:

Hill 11/29 converting those 3rd downs 37.9%
Eli 17/31 converting 54.8%
Rodgers 10/28 converting 35.7%
Brees 14/30 converting 46.7%

These are the numbers Hill complainers will show

one more stat

Hill 26 for 38 when ahead
6 for 12 when tied
20 for 32 when behind

So more passing attempts while we are ahead than behind. Imagine that. but all we do is run run run punt

you forgot that then we take the lead, go back to the run run run and lose the game.

and you forgot we obviously run run run to take the lead. so..........

See how easy that was?
He is completing many passes. Just on third down they fell short of first downs lol. We need to be more efficient on 1st and 2nd downs.
Nice...

I just hope we don't continue this... "run.. run... run.. punt"

run pass run?
run pass pass?
pass pass pass?
pass run pass?
pass pass run?

Any of these combinations will do. Just no more running on all 3 downs if we need a first down.
