Offensive post-game analysis (@ Minn)

Sing and Raye have to realize we do not have the running game to run the ball at will to close out games and we have to be more creative or we will have more of these heartbreaking loses.

Everyone gripes we ran ran ran on the final drive...if we would have thrown the ball and got no yds and stopped the clock or even worse intercepted for a td. You always run the ball to close out games and rely on your def to stop the other team. I think we lost because of the prevent def. We should have played press and left our Safties back just in case. Farve's last pass should have been a 50 or 60 yd throw not 32. But he made an oustanding throw and even better catch.

I was impressed with the niners this game, we showed we can go up against better teams and win. We will see them again!!!

I said this immediately after Raye was signed: in the post-Walsh era, anyone that says stuff like "establish the run" or I want to "run 60% of the time" has NO BUSINESS being in the NFL.

hahaha if Roman moves his hand three inches to the left we win 24-20. We went into the metrodome against one of the best D-Lines in the league, lost our #1 back and our 60% run was still :02 away from winning.

We don't have the personnel to run the same offense Bill Walsh ran. Our O-line's strength is running the football, why would you want to force your team to do things they aren't good at? Wasn't that the major flaw with Martz's system?

By the way, running the ball repeatedly early in the game makes passing the ball late in a game that much easier. Remember how great Hill looked on those 75+ yard go-ahead drives late in the 4th quarter?

Just because his philosophy is different doesn't mean he has no business coaching in the NFL. His philosophy was :02 from beating a west coast offense in the model of Bill Walsh's.
One thing for sure the Niners badly need a play maker at WR. Bad

Jesus Christ. Getting too old to Niner Talk.

What I meant was that "establishing the run" is a myth. You run when you win not the other way around. This has already been proven.

So when a coach comes out and say a dumb thing like that, it says to me that that coach is NOT a student of the game and is clinging to concepts of the 70s.

Anyway, this has been discussed AT LENGHT here. I´m not going to repeat myself. You can do a search and read those discussions yourself.

I said it in the gameday thread: givng a playmaker (like Crabtree) to Raye would be like giving a Ferrari F50 to a 8-year old with Down Syndrome.

Yes, I know it´s offensive but I´m too pissed.

It actually WAS a 50yds pass. He threw it from the 40 to the back of the endzone! But I partly agree with you, we needed to bring pressure with 11 sec left and a TD to win. IMO

Bring Back the WEST COAST OFFENSE!!! Please
We all know that Hill can make the right throws in
order to set up the run. This is the easiest adjustment
to implemet into the game plan. We know it opens up
the play action and the run. Just think how more effective
the offense would be. We have collectively the talent to move
the chains. So I ask the powers that be, to have
some faith in our QB/offense. STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!
I hate how we are focusing our offense on an injury prone RB. Sorry to say I love Gore but face it his ankle is always giving him trouble.

We can't just focus on running the ball when Gore is always getting hurt & our o line sucks against great run defenses (AZ & MIN)

Raye needs to trust that Hill can move the ball around, utilize VD more, more play action passes!

THANK YOU! Wrote the EXACT same thing in the gameday thread. It also hurts me to write that, but Gore is NOT a reliable player due to his injuries.

And our plan is to give this RB 20-25 carries per game?? Lotsaluck.
Free Shaun "Hank" Hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean I'd understand if we just sucked at passing but the way we are playing

our passing game > running game by a long shot. I'm not saying lets become the Cardinals and just be a pass happy offense because we don't have the tools for that type of an offense.

But c'mon we have to be more balanced and stop being so damn predictable, part of the reason of being unable to convert 3rd downs is because of that, BEING TO PREDICTABLE. Keep the D on their feet and GUESSING, if they already know what we are going to call then we will not have success.
