I said this immediately after Raye was signed: in the post-Walsh era, anyone that says stuff like "establish the run" or I want to "run 60% of the time" has NO BUSINESS being in the NFL.
hahaha if Roman moves his hand three inches to the left we win 24-20. We went into the metrodome against one of the best D-Lines in the league, lost our #1 back and our 60% run was still :02 away from winning.
We don't have the personnel to run the same offense Bill Walsh ran. Our O-line's strength is running the football, why would you want to force your team to do things they aren't good at? Wasn't that the major flaw with Martz's system?
By the way, running the ball repeatedly early in the game makes passing the ball late in a game that much easier. Remember how great Hill looked on those 75+ yard go-ahead drives late in the 4th quarter?
Just because his philosophy is different doesn't mean he has no business coaching in the NFL. His philosophy was :02 from beating a west coast offense in the model of Bill Walsh's.
