49ers' Clements fined for huge hit on Obomanu

The NFL has levied a $5,000 fine against 49ers cornerback Nate Clements for unnecessary roughness against the Seahawks in Week 2.
Clements' spectacular hit on Seahawks receiver Ben Obomanu during a punt return late in the first quarter drew a 15-yard penalty, which was declined. A penalty for an illegal block in the back against Glen Coffee nullified what otherwise would have been a 75-yard return for the 49ers' Allen Rossum.
Obomanu was running full speed when Clements hit him high from the side, sending Obomanu into the air and onto his back.

weird, even Billick, said during the game it was a clean hit, nothing wrong with that IMO.
Anyone know if Wilson got fined for the hit on VD during week 1? if not thats BS, thats worse than Clements hit.

That is what I thought and heard as well. Plus they showed the replay and it was 100% a clean hit. This fining for hitting is getting out of control. Hey Goodell, you do realize that the F in NFL stands for Football right? Hitting is part of the game. Now if it is a blatant helmet to helmet then I can see a fine. But hitting the guy from the side??? C'mon!! Let the players play the game. Can't tackle the QB to hard, can't block. What next? Can't run, pass or catch? Oh I know better teams have to spot bad teams points

I dont know if it may be on youtube now, but I remember the replay, it was on the rossum TD that was called back. That guy was running full speed and nate was coming from the opposite direction and it was like he hit a brick wall, floored him
