I've been saying this all along.. Everyone made way too much of us drafting Coffee. They will not "split the reps," Frank Gore is our RB and he will only come out when he gets tired. Plus, if Gore couldn't run the ball, there's no way Coffee was going to be able to. The line was not creating any lanes for Gore to run through so Coffee would have suffered the same fate.

how is to say that coffee wouldn't be able to run the ball when gore can't?
plus, it's not like a pick in the 3rd round has never turned out to be good...
Frank Gore - 2005 - 3rd round (1st pick) by the San Francisco 49ers

Use your head. THERE WERE NO LANES TO RUN THROUGH. Adrian Peterson wouldn't have had success behind that line.

Coffee is Frank Gores backup, i believe the coaching staff has said all along that Coffee would come in when Frank is tired just to give him a break i dont recall ever hearing or reading that they will split carries

I notice this too but more specifically, we REALLY needed someone with speed to run off tackles and keep the defense honest. They were run blitzing ALL day right up the middle b/c they knew we couldn't run off tackle. We could have used a Clayton or someone with great quickness to open up holes for Gore and for Hill's passing game as well.

Preseason beast doesn't always mean huge amounts of playing time. Like one of the commentators said when sing was asked if coffee would play more, "Only if Frank let's me"

I agree. Should have kept Kory Sheets on the roster. We might have had some success with a toss to the outside. We were having no success running inside and Coffee wouldn't have changed that. There was simply nowhere to run.
