What Can We Expect from Jimmy Raye's Offense?

I completely agree with Maiocco. If our final % is 60-40 run to pass we will win the NFC West & have a top 5 defense. It won't be the most exciting offense, but we will win games.

How about fewer turnovers!

I completely agree with Maiocco. If our final % is 60-40 run to pass we will win the NFC West & have a top 5 defense. It won't be the most exciting offense, but we will win games.

Of course Maiocco is right. Be he is being sarcastic. He is pointing out that you run when you win not win when you run.

So if your final ration is 60-40 in favor of running, it means you were winning most of the games (since you were able to run out the clock).

That is why it's a big joke from Raye. You can't PLAN to have a 60-40 ratio. It would be the same thing as a baseball coach saying that he is planning on having 4 or 5 grand slams per game. It's ridiculous.

We have no pass-rush. That means we will fall behind in most of the games and we will have to rely on Hill and our WR corp to bring us back.

It would be nice to somoke whatever Raye is smoking, though.

First the dude says balance, now he says 60-40 running. That is NOT balance, and Brazillian pretty much summed up why it won't work.

It's going to be a boring offense if the preseason is any indication.

Well, if we do any bit of what we did in preseason in regular season, then we will be fine.

What are the fundamental objectives of a team?

1. Run the ball
2. Stop the run

We should be VERY good at both of these. Now, we were actually worse in 2006 in terms of stopping the run and we had an icicle at QB.

We all know Shaun Hill will give us average to above average play and from a 10 game sample, he will RARELY give us JTO or Alex Smith incompetent I don't belong here play. So, that's a plus.

To add, Jimmy Raye will spread the ball to the talent in the passing game. It may not work well, but it will be better or similar to Norv's offense but with a better QB and upgraded receivers.



The achilles heal will be the Pass Defense. Without Roman, I think we will be improved from last year. Parys should be improved so our defense can't possibly be worse than last year.

look at Raye's record not very impressive but steady and that what we have ! boring !

Well, in game 1 of preseason, we saw a lot of plays that had the ball being spread around. You are not going to see too many balls to the receivers.

Apparently, according to the tone of the article, we can expect quite alot, and much of it from Gore.

This is one of the most intriguing questions, to me, for the preseason: how will Raye do as a playcaller. What we've seen and heard so far has been good--a surprising emphasis on the pass, unexpected creativity, a disciplined approach.

But none of that shows us how Raye will do as a playcaller. How he will set up the opposing defenses, how he will use the increased number of weapons the offense has, how he will perform under pressure.

Fourth and less than a yard, down by 3, at the other team's 35 and less than three minutes to go in the game. What's he gonna call? Will he gamble?

This should really be fun to watch.

That is one of the most annoying situations to watch for me in the past, if field conditions don't look gook for a FG a team punting in that situation. Then the punter kicks it in the end zone for a field position change of 15 yards. I think Nolan did this a few times too many. At least with Nedney a FG has a good chance of making it. If I was calling plays in that situation I would go for it 100% of the time.

I no longer care about looking pretty, I just want to see a winning record and being in all games to the end. At this point boring 10-7 wins are fine with me.
