You way za kay? Lol it took a bit before I knew how to pronounce it n yet I think I have it wrong now ha ha

I always thought it was pronounced Ooh-Wayz-Okay, which is probably the English pronunciation. Although I would imagine the African way probably has a 'click' sound in there somewhere.

Ha ha yeah I suppose man ha ha. That name man it was crazy.

Nigerian names don't have clicks, actually, no west African languages have clicks.

I know, it was funny tho!
I loved this guy back in the early 90s. Some said he was the fatest player on the team.

Michael Robinson. To this day I don't understand what he does on the team. A QB but play backup RB. Also a ST teamer. He wasn't even a good backup RB, yet they had him there for years. Must be McCloughan's love pick cause Nolan and Singletary are just as clueless on offensive personnel.

Moran Norris long overdue role player that needs to be gone, yet it seems he's been around for 7years. How!!!.....

I thought this thread was about alias handles of posters.

Derrik Deese didn't give up a sack for some incredibly long streak and played/started every position but center.
Here's my r"never lived up to the hype" team from the past 20 years:

QB: Jim Druckenmiller/Gio Carmazzi
RB: Lawrence Philips/Kevan Barlow
RB: Tommy Vardell
WR: JJ Stokes
WR: Rashaun Woods
TE: Greg Clark
OT: Jonas Jennings
OT: Kwame Harris
G: Kevin Gogan
G: Chilo Rachal
C: Eric Heitman

DT: Reggie McGrew
DT: Dana Stubblefield (2nd time around)
DE: Gabe Wilkins
DE: Andre Carter
OLB: Jamie Winborn
OLB: ???
MLB: Jeff Ulbrich
CB: Antonio Langham
CB: Tyrone Drakeford
S: Mike Rumph
S: John Keith

K: Jose Cortez
P: Bill LaFleur

Any ideas on another OLB?
I loved brentson buckner. He was so dam good and then i believe carolina jacked him and had a sick dl. Remember tyat game where they beat tb. Blocked 2 or 3 fgs AND AN EXTRA POINT.

Timmy Mac made the pro bowl in '94 along with Hanks. Every starter from our secondary made it that year except for Eric Davis.

Off-hand, I would assume that Plummer and Wright made it at some point, too.

I don't think anyone's named JJ Stokes yet (for what it was, if Tai Streets can get a mention so can he, because he was never anything more than a role player).

Also, with all this mention about Popson, what about Greg Clark? He was Vernon Davis before we had him (killer blocking TE) except he could catch TDs when needed. Damn hamstrings killed his career with us.

This is hard stuff to track down, especially in the era of the internet.

McDonald only made 6 Pro Bowls. Role player.
Lee Woodall made it in 1995 and 1997.
Merton Hanks only made 4 straight Pro Bowls. Role player.

Basically, a "role player" in the eyes of the uber-intelligent 49er fans is any player who was not named "Montana," "Young," Rice," or "Lott."

Ahmed Plummer...Elvis Grbac

A lot of people in here don't know what a role player is. Ahmed Plummer was a starting CB. No offense to you footballfreak49, you just happened to be the one I quoted.

Renaldo Nehemiah

This is one of the few role players anyone listed. Renaldo was WR, fast with hands of stone, he only averaged a catch a game but was used a a decoy running deep routes (he was a world record holding 110 meter hurdler).
I guess we can add Blake Costanzo now former special teams ace.
