Potential Cap Cuts

You don't cut Roman because he's your b/u for Goldson...there aren't any other experienced FS on the team. I know Battle has a lot of fans, and I get that, but he could be in trouble, especially since he hasn't seen any real action. On top of that Zeigler continues to impress...Spurlock's also looked good so far. With Crabtree coming back, Battle could become the odd man out...especially if we end up keeping 4 QB's and have just 5 WR's on the 53-man squad. Sims could be in jeopardy if Boone or one of the other OT's step up.

Why can't Curtis Taylor or Reggie Smith back him up??

Are we gonna depend on underachieving vets every time our young players make a mistake or get hurt??

The young guys gotta start somewhere, might as well be now, while we have M. Lewis, Dre Bly and Nate Clements as our starters.

Whatever AB said is what i meant...battle, roman, sims. Rest don't make sense a la AB.

I am a big fan of Battle, however he has an uphill fight his cap number is $1.4million, he is 29, and he is an FA at the end of the season. If we keep Battle there is a strong possibility that we lose half our WR corp at the end of the season. Battle to FA, Ziegler cut and picked up by another team, and Bruce retirement.

I hope Boone shows that he is worthy of a spot and this causes Sims to get cut. Again good for cap reasons and Boone could be a steal. The kid is the size of a house if he develops good technique he could be good, plus he has a nasty streak.

I don't see the 9ers cutting Sims. There are a lot of questions marks surronding the RT, so I doubt that they cut Sims for unproven Boone. I think Boone will be safe on the PS.

I think they need to approach Battle for a contract reduction inorder to keep him. If not, cut him for Ziegler.

I think we'll have to give Marvel a lot of reps in preseason to see if he's healthy. That will cast the fate of Sims. I really don't know that Sims was incompetent as a RT just because he gave up that one sack to end that game.

even without a restructing i see Battle over Zeigler, Battle is more consistent, even if he is injured at times, id rather have the guy i know can do it, than a unproven player on the 53 man roster.

Nate!!! He's still getting owned playing 15 yards off the guy!!! I think a reduction would be nice, or talk him into moving to safety. Really to be honest, i don't think he's got the hips anymore. Replace him at cb this season. also like to get a qb and a passrusher... Ok may not all going to happen in just one draft, but we need it!!!

either he needs to be moved to Free Safety or he needs to go.

Who do you think are casualties this off-season? Cap should return if no work stoppage.

Nate Clements comes to mind.

Why does everyone just automatically assume that Clements can move to FS? Or that we can just magically acquire someone better - considering we couldn't when we signed him, and haven't been able to since? Some people play Madden way too much.
