Thanks for looking this up AB. I'd say all 3, although we probably don't need the cap space as of right now. It'd still be good to get rid of the dead weight and free up some space to extend our younger core players.

Given the cap space relative to these contracts salary shouldn't be an issue when it comes to making this team.

I agree with Roman and Sims, but disagree about Battle. He has been productive and can still help the team. His salary isnt outrageous and I think we will get good value out of it. Just think about how the niners would be doing if we have the injuries we have now during the season?

You mean the WR's that aren't practicing due to precautionary reasons? Guess what, he's one of them. Even if he makes the team, we would probably have to keep 6 WR's for that to happen. Crabs, Morgan, Hill, Jones are locks. Bruce is 99% although I wouldn't hate it if Battle replaces Bruce as the 5th. Tell me, in a run oriented system, how often will a 5th WR really help us? Knock on wood, but if we really have such a serious rash of injuries at WR, I'm sure we can pick Battle up off the streets as a free agent. I doubt any other teams would pick him up onto their rosters.

Speaking of cap space, what is our cap number right now pre-Crabtree contract?

Given Goldson's Injury record it would be foolish to cut Roman, a trade is unrealistic since he tried to get a trade and no body wanted him.
Sims, imho should be cut, Snyder is better than him and Marvel Smith is the strarter
at RT.
Battle, it would hurt me if he would be cut he's been a good worker in all of the past years, good blocker. Yet with our WR corps deep as it is right now it would make some sense.

about 16M before the final 3 rooks are signed.
as for 2010, 41M before the final 3 rooks signed.
after those sign, i expect 13.5M for 2009, and about 36-37M for 2010.

C'mon he isn't as bad as you think he is. He was doing good in that Miami game up until that last play were Joey Porter sacked Hill.
