Oh, I'm sure that lot will be used on gamedays. Too much money to be made not to use it. Several businesses in the area will also lease out their lots (Citrix, Yahoo, etc). Some of those companies probably won't be wild about drunken fans in their lots, but there is alot of money to be made.
Yeah, there are several more hotels. One of them is the Marriot. Great America used to be Marriots Great America.
It's going to be one great area full of things to do but it looks like it will be pretty dang expensive. Especially when it 1st opens. Hotels will probably jack up there prices around game day.... same with Great America, the parking garage, golf, etc. A sports bar or night club/hotel from Eddie D/Joe M would be icing on the cake. They would really be able to clean up.
P.S. Do you know what those two dark grey parking lots are for that are in the lower left hand corner of the Great America area? Is that employee parking for GA?
Also, you would think the SC Convention Center will get a lot more involved with 49ers related things as well. Didn't they have the draft party there? They could do a lot of family related things say on Saturdays 49er related. Also, GA will definitely benefit if they work together with the 49ers for say a buy a 9er ticket get 1/2 off admission. Could be a great combo...
To Illustrate my point...
Red: Entrance to Great America. All that parking is right next to the entrance.
Teal: The Marriot
Purple: Yahoo (More parking).
Yellow: Citrix (More Parking)
In the lower left is Mission Junior College with still MORE parking. Just to the south of that right next to the Freeway is the Mercado Shopping Mall.
If you don't want to park, the Light Rail also goes right down Tasman (the street DIRECTLY in front of the stadium).
Its a bit of a tight fit....I acknowledge that, but that is one hell of an entertainment district. It'll also be great for Super Bowl weeks. Press Row at the Convention Center, executives can golf, Many Hotels in the area, kids can hit up Great America.....and nobody has to so much as get in a car.
