Yay! Let's just throw the ball everywhere and we'll win superbowl year after year....you need a balanced offense, which is what Singletary wants us to have, it's just common sense bro.
Considering the AFC-best and heavily run-first 13-3 Titans got quickly dismissed from the playoffs while two pass-oriented teams played in the SB and it was won by PASSING the ball, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to "just throw the ball everywhere."
No successful pass-first HC would ever agree with his unproven philosophy and being that many of those coaches were once with the niners you should know that and it should concern you.
MS wants a balanced attack with an EMPHASIS ON THE RUN. That scares me. He said he wants to be able to run the ball EVEN IF THEIR ARE 8 OR 9 IN THE BOX -- which tells me he's going to force his philosophy for the sake of philosophy which is not good. He's emphasizing the run and hired a me-too lap dog in Raye which also means we can expect a fairly anemic passing game that is not able to rack up points or get the niners out of trouble.
In an official article on this site it said he wanted a perfectly balanced attack. That is, 5 passes for every 5 runs in a typical offensive series. To compare, Martz's philosophy was 5 1/2 passes to 4 runs (also very balanced and basically the same thing) yet MS fired him and brought a career loser like Raye in? I mean, was that fire/hire really worth it b/c of that??? I don't think so. Those are not the actions of a HC that I can respect and believe in.
