Good size for both receivers

East Carolina RB Chris Johnson, 5'11", 196

i see doucet falling to the 2nd round. kelley probably will fall to the late first while andre woodson falls to mis-2nd.

alot will depend on how he works out at LSU's proday

well even though he does perform well, wont his stock drop just because he seems to be injured a lot. i was real excited to see him play in the senior bowl until he got hurt.

most likely, i really havent liked him either..i just dont like most of the WR in this draft

u know, me neither. i mean, there are a lot of decent receivers, but i really dont see one making an impact like a dwayne bowe or fitz. im really hoping bowman becomes a good player and lavelle hawkins has become one of my faves. outside of those two, i really dont want to draft anyone else. like others have stated before, this is the year of the Offensive Tackles.

he is definitely my choice for our first pick but i know he's gonna explode in the combine and really help himself out. if we do have a shot in selecting him so u see gim playing at DE for us? he has the skill to run the 40 in 4.7 seconds, and if so, i wouldnt mind trying him out at OLB.

he will be long gone by the time we pick, but i see him as a slighty athletic form or Merriman, people call me crazy but that is just how i see it and what makes the draft soo fun

Jake Long launched the 225 pound bar a whopping 37 times. This will probably be the best for any player in the draft.

He is stealing the show.

Heath Benedict should get up into the 40s on the bench. Well, I think he will.

The King, King Dunlap, only put up the bar 21 times. However, at 6'8", he's got a long way to put it up. The interior guys, with stubbier arms, have a much easier day.

That is what makes Long's 37 reps phenomenal. It is amazing for a 6'7" player.

do we have any idea on the length of j.long's arms?
does he have short arms for a big guy?
would that help to explain his occasional lapses in passpro?

What were Jerry Rice's measurements again? Wasn't he 6' 205? Just curious guys.

"Malcolm Kelley has pulled out of the combine with a severe quad hematoma. Insider word is he may not be able to work out for 4-6 weeks."

"But Auburn's Quentin Groves is really causing a stir here. He met with 49ers' head coach Mike Nolan and told him your going to be sorry you traded the 7th pick for Staley after I run a 4.4 forty! Big Talk, but if he does he will be a top 10 pick for sure."

a top 10 pick?!?! i dont think so, but he may break it into the end of the first round.

No matter what happens he won't go higher than Vernon Gholston at #7 to the Pats, which is what he's talking about. His 40 time won't mean that much to the 9ers as long as it isn't slower than what they anticipate. They'll look at the film, talk to his coaches, and bring him in for a workout or interview if they have questions. The biggest deterrent to him moving up is that he didn't play much last year, which leaves a lot of unknowns. Teams will be reluctant to gamble with a 1st rounder - teams want somebody they are sure can produce.

I think he was just messing around with Nolan, he has a sense of humor at least.

making an impression so that nolan remembers him. groves selected by the niners in the 2nd round.

idk..if he was serious i am not sure i like his flat out arrogance

that's also true. the last thing we need is a big talking player who is entering the league to officially play a different position only to become our next TBC. hmm, we'll see how he performs this weekend.

hey congrats to your boy Brenna good question

u know i've been in sucha rollercoaster ride with this kid. at first, i was hoping that we select him in the 4th round. then the senior bowl fiasco occured where he was shorter than expected and extremely light. his footwork was bad and clearly needed some work. now that the combine is here, he's gained almost 20 lbs. and now im interested to see how he does throwing the ball. are u keepin ur eye on him?

The extra weight is going to help him with his throws tremendously. Let's see if it's true.

it not just about the throws dude, it is about people not thinking he is to fragile to be in the league
NFL | Charles weighs in at NFL Scouting Combine
Fri, 22 Feb 2008 14:17:02 -0800

University of Texas RB Jamaal Charles weighed in at the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine Friday, Feb. 22, at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds. Charles said his fastest 40-yard dash was 4.1 seconds. Charles also stated that he would love to stay in the state of Texas and play for the Houston Texans or Dallas Cowboys.

for those of you who claimed that desean jackson was the fastest player in the draft...think again...this guy is 2 inches and 30 lbs bigger than desean and claims he is faster than desean claims to be...hmmm....

He is going to run 4.1 40?!? I think he has been hanging out with Ricky Williams.

He said and he did are not the same.

I doubt he runs 4.1. Maybe he hits a low 4.3 and that is very very fast.

The targets are the "approximate averages" from recent combines, so that would mean that good players will have better numbers than those on the chart.

Did Nolan and Groves have a meeting (interview) or did they just happen to talk?

If he met with Nolan, is that an indication that we have an real interest in him?

I assume that Groves was just having some fun.
UPDATED BENCH NUMBERS

Jake Long-37
Jeremy Zuttah- 35
Kirk Barton- 34
Carl Nicks- 31
Brandon Keith-31
John Greco- 30
Mike McGlynn-30
Chris McDuffie-29
Mike Pollack-29
Gosder Cherilus-24
Ryan Clady-24
Fred Davis-24
Kellen Davis-22
Chris Williams- 21

In comparison to Williams, who was beat out by at least 9 TE's, some who weigh 80 pounds less, a 234 pound long snapper named Tyler Schmitt put the bar up 21 times.

21 is not a good number for an OT who wants a first round grade. Especially for an OT with shorter arms. He will have to improve that number at his campus workout, or he will lose a chunk of money.
