My 7 round mock

I don't think we will keep all 14 picks but if we do this is how I would have it play out.

Isn't Werner strictly a 4-3 DE?

They said the same thing about Justin Smith when he came over from the Bengals

True, but Smith was a seasoned vet when asked to make the switch. He was physically more mature, more powerful than Werner would be. I'm not saying he couldn't do it, but it would be risky and potentially a waste of his talent.... and therefore, a wasted pick.

I'd consider Werner a project as a 5 technique DE. Sure he could do it, and could end up being very good. But at 266 he'd need to add at least 20 lbs to play there. I'd pass on him and look for a similar prospect in rounds 3 or 4 to make the switch over time.

However, Werner would be effective in our nickel package as a pass rusher opposite Aldon. I don't like the idea of taking Brooks out of the game, but that plan has a little more merit.
That would be a great draft anything can happen come draft day.....Ace Sanders I like that kid
Werner will be on a plane to the team that drafted him by the time our pick rolls around.
I struggle to see most of these selections being available where they are... but IF this were our draft? I'd be pretty damn happy.

I would be pleased with this draft

Not a fan of the Dobson or Rodgers picks. Like Reid, Lattimore, and Ace Sanders picks though.

I think he slips but that's my opinion

Didn't Nolan try making Smith an OLB for us at first? Or was he just seeing if he could do it in the preseason?
Bjoern Werner is most likely gone way before pick 31. why do so many of these mock draft have the 49er taking a HURT RB in the 3 or 4th round. NO hurt RB no to Marcus Lattimore RB. He is most likely not going to play next year. If he is there in the 6th take him. let him sit the year and get better. They can find someone that can play in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Matt Elam i think is 5'8" not really 5'10. and yes for a safty it matters. a deep pass over his head would suck. I know he is a good player but he is still short. Im not a big fan of this draft. No thanks

Um, everyone knows that Lattimore won't be playing next year already. The point of taking Lattimore is that the 49ers have a crapload of picks, Lattimore is a guy who would be a 1st rounder if healthy, since the 49ers don't need a RB urgently but need one to replace Gore eventually, taking Lattimore is sound strategy as you simply put him on IR and let him recover with NFL doctors and therapy. The 49ers have the luxury of spending a late 3rd rounder or even 4th rounder on a guy with top of the 1st round talent.
