Ezekiel Asah?? DE BYU 6'5 271 4.6 40??

I watched this dude a few times this year, never heard of him before this year but he did impress me the few times i watched him. Is there any chance this dude drops to us at 31? I like is size, speed power & rawness that he can be coached. He'd help Aldon a whole lot down the road assuming they red shirt him

He goes by Ziggy. They love him on moving the chains.
he would be ideal for our system, but no way he falls that far haha. by all accounts, he's a consensus top 10 pick. barring a massive trade up, no way we get him. besides, it wouldn't even be worth it, considering the amount of DL depth in this draft.
I think he'll be the best defensive player to come out of this draft. But we wont know for three years, so we're going to have to put this thread on ice.
He is amazing on how he anticipates where the ball is going. He has a burst in his first step, and takes great angles sideline to sideline. he'll get better at shedding blockers, but hes pretty good now. He looks plenty strong already playing inside on the line.

But I think he'll end up more suited as a 'will' in a 4-3 system.
I don't think he has much impact for 2, maybe 3 seasons

Will usually refers to the weakside OLB in a 4-3. Ansah is a 4-3 DE or a 3-4 OLB. Lacks the anchor to play 3-4 DE. Probably best suited to 4-3 DE, like the player he's most often compared to Jason Pierre-Paul.

I know, but I dont think hes best suited for 3-4 olb or 4-3 de, I think he'll be the pass rushing specialist in the 4-3
If Baalke thought this player would fit the 49ers defense he would go after him. If Baalke thinks that Ansah is a 4-3 DE then there is no purpose in thinking about him. So the draft will be interesting.

He'll be gone well before the 49ers pick eitherway.
Ziggy is a top 10 pick just a freak talent

No chance we will get him. I doubt we will trade up into the top 10 for a raw talent.
Even though I think Asah is a very good player with lots of upside, Baalke will not draft him due to his history of only drafting players with productive college careers. Asah is a great natural athlete, but is college experience is lacking.
'Ansah'

This. Unless we are cutting Brooks there is no reason we would go "Julio Jones" for a player who would see time as situational rusher for a year maybe even 2. Ansah is is a mix of JPP and Aldon, he is equally athletic(maybe even more so) and he lacks football knowledge which means he'll need an Aldon style year #1 of pass rushing specialization to get used to the NFL speed and learn the scheme of the team he goes to.

If we go "Julio Jones" for anyone its going to be for a DE/DT like Lotulelei, Floyd, or Richardson -- a player who will easily see 50% snaps as a rotational player at 2 positions in year 1. Or and its a big OR we go all all in for Dee Milliner or Desmond Trufant and cut Rogers, which wont happen. 3rd option would be based on losing Goldson in FA and doing everything in our power to land Kenny Vaccaro or Jonathan Cyprien. Those 3 scenarios are the only reason we will do a massive move up in round 1.
Baalke has enough draft picks to get any player he likes in this years draft. The great question is how does he rank players and are there any players worth breaking the bank for? Ansah is going to be a good player but we don't know if he would be a good player in our system and at what cost.
