But the Niners need someone who can just run a go route and get behind the defense. A long strider who can beat DBs with speed and on deep jump balls. Someone like Terrance Williams or Justin Hunter.
Agreed. We need a MONSTER WR who can just out jump DBs. He doesn't need to be fast but I just want a specimen that can rip the ball out the air.
Someone on NFL.com has Tavon Austin 1st round to Niners. Calls him basically explosive, dynamic offensive weapon who can line up all over and would cause D coaches major headaches in that offense with Kaep, RB corps, Crab, TEs, OL.
IDK, maybe a better Percy Harvin-type? What say you about this guy. I assume we go best-available with #31, but I'd hope Harbaalke would target an eventual replacement for Cowboy and/or Sopoaga (unless he's already on the team).

i like tavon but we already got two slot receivers in jenkins and williams. we need a prototypical outside threat like hunter. He is raw but high ceiling
This. And it's not that anyone is claiming that Jenkins and Williams are world beaters, but they are talented (yes people AJ Jenkins does have some talent), and I liked what I saw from Kyle Williams this past season.

Dude is ridiculous. If he were a couple inches taller he'd be a top 15 pick.
I want Tavon Austin. I watched alot of West VA games this year and this kid is one of the most explosive players that I've seen in recent memory. With the way our offense began evolving under Kaep with a more focus on the downfield passing game, we saw our most explosive players begining to really shine. Imagine Austin and Lamichael James on the field at the sametime, that is a ridiculous amount of speed right there.
The most intriguing thing that I believe Austin brings is his versatility. West VA used him as a receiver, running back and returner. I believe he could be that Percy Harvin kind of hybrid player in this offense and would give us a young dynamic returner in the return game. I know his size is a red flag but with all the talent in place already offensively, he doesn't neeed to be a full time, every down contributer but if used right he could be a dangerous situational guy.
Thinking about the options for a game breaking WR/KR guy or a tall RZ guy, I would not be surprised to see two WRs selected, depending on how the team views Jenkins and if they keep Moss or Manningham. How about Austin in the first and a NT in the second, then best tall WR available in the third after an OLB? Too many defensive needs?
