A question about RBs

I think with our Oline that Eddie Lacy would be a star. I dont think hes going to declare though.
Yeah, he seems interesting, too. I'd prefer Taylor b/c he was playing at Stanford, for now.

Not sure the need for an "every down back" is relevant to this offense. I get what you're saying in that we'll need someone with more size/power than LMJ and Hunter once Gire is done...but even if we found someone like that, Harbaugh's system doesn't really operate that way. It's a run heavy system, so the carries are typically split amongst 3 backs, two at the very minimum.

Like I said, I understand your point, but not sure I agree with your "every down back" premise.
So we are in need of a 4th back to be sure, arent we?

Well in your opinion who would be a good back for a 3 back system. Kenjon Barner?

Well, at least for the 2013, it would have to be someone who can contribute on special teams (like Dixon) since they're not likely to get much playing time behind Gore, Hunter and James (barring injuries). By special teams, I mean either a gunner or a coverage guy at the least, a kickoff/punt returner at the most. In that sense, Barner would be a good choice as would a guy like Michael Ford who has good size (5'10" 215), pretty good speed, excellent RB potential and adds value on special teams.

Yes, but I'm not sure it's a top priority since Dixon is on the roster and adds a lot of value on special teams (which a 4th RB has to do). We'll definitely pick one, but I can't see it being before the 3rd round unless someone is there that really jumps out
