He's a big body TE at 6'8" 255lbs and can also be used as a wide receiver too in certain situations and his pass catching is on point too. He's just not the best of blockers. This mock is good especially if Fauria was added to it.
You know. I really want us to grab a te to replace delanie and his inconsistency, and I wanted to plug in Fauria because of his height and the possibility of him being a huge red zone threat. But after watching the ucla- Baylor game with UCLA passing 90% of the time and Fauria not making any type of contribution was very concerning and made me fade on him being that big of a threat.

Real cool guy, don't worry your mock will be a failure as well. And I didn't know moving up from 32 to 23 was equal to five spots? Well we can't all learn math pass a 1st grade level. And wasn't Tebow traded for two picks last offseason. Umm yeah.

Thanks guys for the positive feedback. Yeah Austin is very small but god damn is he quick and move with such ease. Let's just watch him in tomorrows bowl game and then bring up this question again.
I think Alex Smith Will be traded for more than a 4th round pick. I could also see us leaving the draft with several 2nd, 3rd, 4th round picks next year. They just don't need that much and there are a lot of teams with win now needs.

First of all, if you are talking current events, the Niners will pick around #28. Assuming they are going to win the Super Bowl is nice, but that is not a certainty.
If you are going to use the Tebow trade as your justification for getting two picks for Alex, I would ask how that worked out for the Jets. After the Jets traded away two picks and got back almost nothing in return in terms of productivity, do you think any team in the NFL would give up two picks for a guy they could get without compensation once the Niners cut him anyway? Get real!
Last, your first two picks are pipe dreams in terms of them being available at those spots. Richardson is a top 15 pick based on his value right now and Austin is a top 30 pick. I sincerely doubt that either one of them is available where you project them.

"If you're a niner fan" why would you not see us winning the superbowl? Hello Mr. wishful thinking for pick #28, bull man. The niners are winning the superbowl, and thats it. Not a certainty, haha. True niner fans can't think any differently.
And Yes I do think will get picks for Smith. The point is tebow got that last year and Smith is better than Tebow. Have you seen the FA qbs and the qbs in the draft this year= Not Good. There's no guarantees a team can get Smith if they don't trade for him guy.
Pipe dreams, or one persons analysis of this draft. We can all have different opinions on players. I felt these players would not be available to us in our current position at #32, which is why we moved up to grab players at a position in the draft they should be around.
Thanks Brock and your mock was awesome.

I have been a Niner fan for a very long time, and I am just being a realist and not an optimist.
You may be right about some team being desperate enough to trade a couple of picks for Smith, but I just don't see it. There is no way the Niners are going to pay Alex any money to hang around as a backup. They will make the class move and release him so he can make his own decision about where he wants to go.
By the way, I speak sarcasm so thanks for the compliment of my mock.

Ive stood next to Tavon Austin. Hes not a shrimpy guy, hes short but a legit 175-180. I just dont think he will be around at this point. Hes a rare talent and his return ability alone would intrigue a teqm enough to pick him in the last first.

This team has alot more needs then people realize. A DT if not 2,a DE if not 2,a WR,a OLB,a safety,a cornerback if not 2 and a kicker. With the 49ers right against the cap we must build and provide depth through the draft. Cowboy isn't getting any younger and both Sopaga/Jean Francois are free agents. This team must add players who can rotate in at defensive line and OLB to give our starters a rest.

I hope you really aren't expecting us to lose in the playoffs.
Why would the niners cut smith instead of trading him for picks. All class aside that's a bad business move, and shouldn't be done. The situattion with Smith is one the 49ers will take full advantage of. If you are offering the best qb on the market you command full return.
Now I don't want to make this an Alex Smith post so if you want to talk about the mock draft. Lets keep rolling.

Two last things:
One, I do not expect us to lose or win for that matter. I am basing my draft picks on where the Niners stand right now before the playoffs start.
The reason why the Niners would cut Smith is simple. They will owe him $7.5 million guaranteed if he is still on the roster as of April 1st. Why would the Niners wait around for a trade offer when they could get stuck with the check if they don't get what they want? It's the money, nothing more.

Alright man this is dumb. Wait till the last day for offers then cut him if no one wants him. I'm pretty sure some team will want him.

You're right, D-Line should be a focus, probably primary focus in offseason. Likely wont sign anyone big named, dont have the cap room. We need depth, big time.

Love the mock but it is a bit unrealistic... Tavon Austin is pure win and probably attainable. His size will cause him to fall a bit. The depth of our roster was a bit exaggerated going into the season, we will need a few of those traded picks... Especially when looking at our DE depth, 4 udfas?(forgot if rjf was a late rounder) Backing up the starters needs to change.
