After todays game, how would you feel about drafting a corner in the 2nd? I might seem a little bias for the fact that Ive felt that Rogers is overrated, even after he made the pro bowl. and Ive felt that Brown is overrated as well. So im looking for another opinion.
damn him for letting his stone hands come out today. That seriously looked like a 90 yard pick six if he caught that. Oh I'd draft a corner in the 2nd in a heart beat, all of Baalke's new contracts are really well structured to leave the team with minimal amount owed if they caught bait on player. We're only paying him $3.7 for this year and I bet like most of our deals he has to be on the roster in 2013's league year for the next year to kick in.
Were going to have to make some "strictly" financial decision this spring anyway with our a completely nonexistent cap space as it is. I predict 2-3 players being and another 4-5 being extended or restructured in order to give us wiggle room.

I said the same exact words when watching. He had two opportunities for INTs and came up short twice. I knew Rogers was going to lose his matchup with Cruz but I didnt expect Brown to get picked on by Hixon so bad. One corner playing bad is manageable but both isnt. Brock is not getting resigned so we were getting corner anyway, but now I think we're just gonna get one sooner. Special teams has gone to crap with Jones and Constanzo gone too. Desmond Trufant is sounding really good right about now. im not gonna panic though but it just confirmed my opinion on Rogers anyway. We draft a corner this year, Culliver likely becomes a starter next year over Brown. Im pretty sure Rogers will be cut before his contract runs out though so. His production level will take a huge nose dive next year being on the wrong side of 30.

Nope, after that game we would need to replace like 10 players. Cully, Brown, Rogers, Alex, Kap, Akers, Aldon etc etc.....
Nobody looked good. We need a pass rusher badly!!!!

Not worried about Carlos, we have had trouble with Cruz for 3 games now, but we were able to shut down Calvin Johnson, Santonio Holmes, Jordy Nelson, Jennings, TEs like Finley, Pettigrew, our D is fine, it will come down to who is brought back, Goldson and Sopoaga, and extending Bowman in the future.
I agree with jreff, we need pass rushers, Aldon and Ahmad are our best, the rest aren't getting pressure. Losing Haralson hurts, but honestly, he was a bust since being extended, he wouldn't do much difference.
We need a legit franchise QB, I hope the Front Office cans Alex after 2012, saves over 9M to cut his ass. Until we get a franchise QB, we are screwed.

That means, sending in tiny, speedy WRs against us seems to be a winning strategy???

I wouldnt say 10, just the corners. They were the only ones who looked bad every defensive play. I dont expect Akers to make every field goalof 50+ yrds. Alex just forced balls into small windows and made bad decisions. If youre gonna throw a pick, do it on a 50yrd bomb please.
idk what was up with the pass rush, But its true, We need both.

yeah, its looking that way. Thats what Minny did. Thats how GB used Cobb to move the ball on us.

Soo let's assume Eric Reid is the first safety off the board landing in STL possibly. What are the chances of Vaccaro making it past secondary needy teams like Detroit, GB or Oak? Bigger needs?
TJ is next off the board and Elam might be 3rd...have a weird feeling about him.
Oakland would've already passed on him. GB goes after a RB and Detroit might also.
I dont think Elam is third off the board, not before Rambo if only referring to FS, but if we factor in SS as well, then I dont see Rambo being the 3rd either, but he goes before Elam. But that's if the draft was tomorrow. Long season so you could be 100% right on that.
I started to say that Oakland has alot of needs so they'll probably just go BPA, they need seconardy help so bad. Oakland and Detroit are the only two teams in the league that dont have any INTs. smh.
GB and Detroit could both find a RB in the 2nd or trade up for the fact that not too many teams need a RB in the first. PItt, GB, and DET are the only teams that really "need" one bad enough to consider spending a 1st rd pick .

lol...I know. I wasn't being serious.
The only thing that will effect is that I will dislike them that much more if they are a bust.

I can see this being a year to trade up in the 2nd and 3rd rounds when the really talented players slip due to various nitpicks...40 times...bench reps...weight...inconsistencies...etc.
I think the pattern of events will take place a lot smoother than originally thought. I believe Cowboy will play out his contract and retire a Niner. This will not only open up money and a roster space, but the ability to insert a younger, cheaper option who has potential. I believe Culliver will make Rogers expendable by the end of next season. Fleming was pegged to take over for Haralson and will do exactly that (though I also believe depth will be drafted for at this spot).
As much as I love Ice...Tomsula allows the team to take on somewhat projects at the position because of his aptitude as a coach...a lot like McKittrick...that's invaluable to have on your staff. He will be allowed to walk based that alone...money would be secondary.

lol very funny. thats even better for us. Could get a quality safety in the draft if necessary. I think an OLB or DE is what I wanna see now tho. we dont have many needs but I just really wanna see a guy drafted to be a Pass rusher and just get after the Qb. A nasty badass mofo who just smells blood. Best Possible DE that isnt a reach. idk though. You can never have too many pass rushers. Thats how the Steelers D got good, drafting pass rushers. But im thinking one dynamic pass rusher and a quality OLB. im not thinking present. Im thinking future. The only position that we draft for the present would be DT, other than that, im lookin for Rogers' replacement at CB. lAst time i was on, i remember talking about how Rogers seems to be on the decline and how he gets beat by quicker recievers.
So im seeing DT, OLB, C and possibly FS being our main picks.
WR, CB, SS will be the luxary picks.
My question for jreff22, lets say Moss doesnt retire, do we still draft Marcus Davis?

few points...
I dont see any DE prospects that are within reach that would make an impact....I would rather draft later for depth then spend a high pick on a replacement who is meh.
OLB is still a high priority.
Rogers replacement is Cully and Cox can be the nickel easily.
If Moss wants back and looks good and Jim trusts him to finish another full season without issue....I might skip the big WR and look for a Ginn replacement. I wanted TY Hilton last year for that role and he is blowing up in Indy.....if Ace Sanders declares I would target him ASAP.
