Or if the wr at the end of the 1st round is very similar to a guy we can get in the 3rd round, than why reach. Brooks will be key but I do think that if a good pass rusher is there in the 1st, it would be hard to pass up. If Aldon did this well in his first year, can you imagine if we added a guy like him on the other side. Our defense played great this year but we need to get better. We need depth and we played injury free last year. if we lost j. smith or aldon we would lose our pass rush.

Absolutely it does. I'd much rather find a top 3-4 OLB in the 1st round and then look for talent at WR in later rounds, or look at a bargain pickup in free agency. This team is built on their defense, that has to continue being a strength, the pass-rush has to continue to be a strength, otherwise you can add a dozen receivers and this team will still struggle.
The 49ers should be building on their defense, making it even more formidable in recognition of the schedule getting a hell of a lot tougher next season.

Why does everyone want a pass rusher again in the 1st round....

No way we draft a pass rusher in the first round, but it really depends on BPA and if we lose Ahmad Brooks, but I think we keep brooks.
I could see us drafting the following in the first round
TE, WR, OG, RB, Safety
I think we will draft the OLB later in the draft like 3rd round

I cannot see us drafting a rb in the first round. Why should we? We have two guys under harness and there is plenty of value later.
I cant see us drafting a guard in the first round. As much as I like to see OL taken, we have spent quite enough on the line, and there is way better value later in the draft.
I know the zone has come out for a 1st round tight end, but my gut reaction is it wont happen. A 6th overall was very, very high for a te. To have two first round tight ends on a team would be unusual, to say the least. Not saying it wont happen. Just saying I think it unlikely.
Safety? Could happen, I suppose. Generally of course, you got your corners in the first and your safeties later, but the game keeps changing. Dont see the position that high on our needs list though.
Wide receiver? Ah, yes! Now that is where the real need is. And I cant see us being big players in the free agency market because we have so many of our own guys to re-sign. So it has to be the draft and it has to be early because we need a starter in 2012. So if there is value in the pick, this is where I think it should go. But if the real prospects are gone and we have to look at picking lower calibre guys, hopefully the team have learned their lesson and wont reach as we did in 2008. In which case, with no reason to take a qb early and the OT spots covered, that surely leaves pass rush. Having said that, I want a receiver taken early and ready to start this autumn. Actually I want two, but you dont always get what you want.

Because we are going to lose Brooks in FA and 2 pass rushers is far better than 1. In fact if we add another real good one we may be even a more dominant defense.

Re-signing Brooks will satisfy the pass rusher need...at least for the most part. My top pick would be WR Alshon Jeffery, big WR from South Carolina. He's a playmaker...torched one of the top CB's, Alfonzo Dennard (Neb) for 148 yds and a TD. He'd be a very good RZ target for Alex. 2nd rd, I'd continue upgrading the receiving corps w/TE Coby Fleener, one of Harbaugh's top recruits from Stanford.
