MadDog's Big 254 Board- April 12 Edition

Only two weeks and two days before Draft Thursday. Gentlemen, start your engines. This is my first edition of the full draft board. Although the first round picks in this board should be considered a "mock draft", with the enormous amount of trading that takes place over 7 rounds, this board should be thought of more as a general area where a player will be taken (I think that inside the first round, trades will be made that push players higher or lowers than expected). In other words, I am not projecting an exact player for an exact team at a specific spot for all 254 picks.

If there are players you believe are missed on this board, I would love to hear your opinion on which ones, and where you project them.

P.S. Even the best in the business miss on well more than 50 players being selected out of the 250+ plus. Two years ago, I missed on exactly 52 players, and felt it was a horrifically disappointing year. However, in reviewing the other 7 round mocks, from experts such as Mel, Todd, and company, I found that they averaged 60-75 players that they did not project to be drafted. So, while I beat all the experts in total number of players selected, it just goes to show the inact science of the draft, and the humiliating experience of projecting future draftees.

In this draft, I do see a series of QB's taken in the first round (five), as teams scramble to get QB's on their roster. I project Ryan Mallett to be the last of the top seven QB's, but still in the top 41 picks.

Cheers.

Great job as usual. Bowers' knee has really hurt us. He was supposed to be a top 10 pick but doesn't look like that anymore. He may have been the one to push Peterson down to us. Let's hope some team looks past that and still takes him top 6. Wishful thinking, but crazier things have happened.
I love it!!!

Dalton at #28!

What you trying to say, MD?

Thanks for all your hard work!

Good to see Kealoha Pilares and my favorite NT/Tree Stump Anthony Gray made the cut!
Excellent work as always MD! Who do you project he 49ers targeting at QB (I know this is not a direct mock, but if it fell like this, who do you think we'd go for)?

I am removing all Ohio State players from my board.
I am curious. Is this your board of best talent or best player available? Or is this a list of how you feel GM's are rating players as a whole?

If it really does play out this way, I think it's going to be tough for the Niners to find a trading partner near the end of the first/beginning of the second round, unless they're willing to give up high picks in next year's draft. There are just too many good players left between 18-44. The successful teams will be able to snag a good player at the bottom of the round, and the lousy teams at the top of the second likewise. The plethora of picks the Niners have in rds. 5, 6 and 7 will be worthless as trade bait to either good or bad teams this year.

They may not be in a position to pick any QB that's worth more than a nose full of snot.

Why does everyone keep saying this? How greedy can fans be? The guy is loosing millions of dollars and has health issues, but all everyone here cares about is PP falling to #7.

This is about making the team better and the chess battle that is the draft. He isn't dieing of cancer and will still me a millionaire, yes I'm more concerned about PP.

Eh even if we dont get Peterson, Prince is definitely not a bad consolation prize. Prince or Quinn. It'd be kinda cool if Bowers fell all the way to pick 45. He doesn't really fit our system too well but he's too talented to pass up anyway.

PP will make a massive improvement, I live Prince but PP is DA MAN
i'd be ecstatic coming out of the first round with either peterson or green
So you think that if the Niners wanted to draft Dalton they would have to draft up ahead of the Seahawks?
