On the contrary, I'd be surprised if they selected him. I think they will select Miller and if he's gone then Quinn. They desperately need to upgrade their pass rush and I get the feeling Whisenhunt will opt for a FA QB instead of putting all of his eggs in the Blaine Gabbert basket.

So Blaine to the Niners wouldn't be that surprising.

I would be shocked as well but i could see them drafting defense and banking on trading for Kolb after the draft. this will get them immediate help on defense and Kolb will make fitz happy and keep the coach off the hotseat.

My predictions:

Mallet will be the best pro-QB.

Quinn will be the best pass rusher.

Locker will be taken in the top 15.

A NFL player will release a sex tape.

Things I know will happen, yet also know that I will look at this post in three years and laugh.

(1) The Niners take a QB in the first three rounds, probably with their second selection.
(2) Unless the Niners jettison 3 or more of their picks in efforts to move up, they will select two QBs.
(3) Marcell Dareus and Patrick Peterson may not be hall of famers or perennial pro bowlers, but they will be quality starters at their positions for a relatively long time.
(4) Da'Quan Bowers will perform more like Vernon Gholston than Julius Peppers.
(5) I won't be surprised if Von Miller's career mirrors that of Aaron Curry thus far (accounting for positional differences). He won't be a bust, but he won't live up the billing in the early part of his career.
(6) The run on the second-tier QBs will start around pick 24. If the Niners stay put, they won't get their man unless it's Ricky Stanzi.
(7) Jake Locker will improve his accuracy and overall play in the pros and not be a total bust.
(8) At least one of the second or third tier QBs will have a better career than Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton.
(9) Julio Jones, Nick Fairley, Cam Newton, Tyron Smith, Da'Quan Bowers, and Jimmy Smith are all more likely to bust than not.

Somebody will have a tantrum about who we picked in the first three rounds.

we move up to wherever we need to go grab either Ponder or Dalton.

We will draft three future starters in the 7th round including our QB of the future, who will outplayed the QB we draft in a higher round
