The Patriots are inlove with both Von Miller and Robert Quinn, and both are available at the 7th spot..

The fear of Dallas landing Von Miller and Houston taking Quinn for Wade Phillips new 3-4 scheme, New England pulled the trigger and offered us their two 1st rounders.

The Patriots now with the 7th overall pick select: Robert Quinn, OLB - UNC.

The San Francisco 49ers then drafts:

1a - 17) Jake Locker, QB - Washington
1b - 28) Brooks Reed, OLB - Arizona

2) - Marvin Austin, DT - UNC
2b) - Davon House, CB - New Mexico State (Indy's 2nd round for our 3rd and 5th this year)

3a) - traded to Indy for their 2nd rounder

3b) - Greg Salas, WR - Hawaii (pick from SD for our 5th round this year and next year's 3rd round)

4a) - Will Rackley, OG - Lehigh
4b) - Owen Marecic, FB - Stanford

5a) - traded to San Diego

5b) - Greg Romeus, DT - PITT (Traded our two 7th rounders to Philly)

6a) - Ryan Winterswyk, DE - Boise state
6b) - Jacquizz Rodgers, RB - Oregon State

7a) - Traded to Philly for Philly's 5th round
7b) - Traded to Philly for Philly's 5th round

7c - Compensatory Pick) - Chase Beeler, C - Stanford
7d - Compensatory Pick) - Justin Rogers, CB - Richmond

I wouldn't mind trading our 7th pick for 2 of NE's 1st rounders but Locker is a REACH at 17 and although I like Reed I don't think of him as a game changing passrusher which is what we need.

Would love M.Austin in the 2nd round...love Marecic pick

overall though not a huge fan, 2 NTs, suspect QB no big time passrushers or CBs
Love it as long as we get Greg Salas it would be like how I felt when Ashley Lelie came to Ninerville.
Sucks-Von Miller is there and we pass on him? Locker in the first-no thanks. Just my opinion as I have no idea who JH wants at QB.

You coudl NEVER in a million years get a 3 pick for a 5th this year and the third next year. You would have to igve up a high 4 and the 3rd next year to get such a pick
No locker
too early for reed
not realistic trade

but it just might be crazy enough to work
Not a fan of the draft, But I have seen worse. No way would Belichick take Quinn over Miller. Miller is considered the most ready 3-4 OLB in the draft.

Would rather have Ponder Dalton or Kapernick then Locker. Most people see Reed as a 4-3 DE not a 3-4 DE or OLB.

Also to anyone making mocks who wants to trade next years picks, No CBA means you can't trade next years picks.

agreed. If miller is available and we trade away that pick I will be very, very disappointed.

ok.. glad to hear everyone's opinion...

but would this really be a better draft with the same trade scenario?

trade,. as in, if it's possible to make a trade in this year's draft..

1a - 17) Ryan Kerrigan, OLB - Purdue
1b - 28) Jimmy Smith, CB - Colorado

2) - Christian Ponder, QB - Florida State
2b) - Davon House, CB - New Mexico State (Indy's 2nd round for our 3rd and 5th this year)

3a) - traded to Indy for their 2nd rounder

3b) - Greg Salas, WR - Hawaii (pick from SD for our 5th round this year and next year's 3rd round)

Not a huge Ponder fan, but I'd much rather have this scenario.
I think I might prefer Houston over Reed there.

But other than that I like it a lot.

Getting Locker, a really good OLB (Houston or Reed), House, and Salas would make me very happy.
If Locker is at the top of our draft class, I'll be bummed.
1a - 17) Jake Locker, QB - Washington
1b - 28) Brooks Reed, OLB - Arizona
