If A.J. Green

Falls to #7, can we pass him up? Everyone is basically saying he's the best prospect to come out since Calvin Johnson. I know everyone's going to say there's no way he slips to 7 but who predicted Crabtree to fall to us?? I know our needs are QB, CB, Pass Rush Specialist and probably Guard but really can you imagine Crabtree and Green on the same field together?
You take A.J Green if he is available. The draft class is deep with corners and pass rushers that can be had in the 3rd and 4th round. QB must be taken in the 2nd, whether we trade back and collect more picks in the 2nd or whether we just take someone at 45, either way.
You take quality if it is there. Won't be, though.
if we get a good qb, we wont need green...but we need pass-rush and CB badly. we should at least consider a trade-down if green is available for us.

We do have other needs it is true. Regarding not needing him, did Montana not need Rice and Taylor?

A trade down wouldn't be bad but if a player the caliber of Green is there, and we don't take him, we better ask for A TON in return. If the team is not willing to give it up, then oh well, we take Green.
Hope's not 'cause is very good to pass on him, sadly we have bigger needs, but if he's there we should

i have also said the following in another thread: one heard same talk about crabtree...there are not many 3-4 pass-rushers out there, so if we have a shot on miller, i would take him over green every day. i would also prefer a pass-rushing DE...but not a CB.

Miller is an awesome player but is very undersized weighting less than 240, sadly unless he packs at least 15 lbs without losing any quickness, he'll have a tough time making the transition as an 3-4 OLB, I saw him more luke a WOLB in a blitzing 4-3
I'm really torn on this one. If Clements leaves we have a gaping whole in the secondary. But Dallas looked like a different team with Dez Bryant.

I disagree with you on this one, Miller although I do believe he will be a good player. I don't think he will become a dominant player at his position. If we have a chance to grab an A.J. Green or a Peterson/Prince who has a very good chance to come in and start from day 1 and become an elite player at that position I believe we have to take them. Vernon Gholston is 6'3 260 lbs. and was suppose to be a very similiar type of player to Miller. Now do I believe Miller will be a bust like him, no not at all. In my opinion the top 4 are easily Fairley, Bowers, Green and Peterson. On the brink is Dareus so if any of those 5 fall to us, I believe we have to take them. I honestly believe our next best pick would be Prince. For a few reasons, 1. b/c our "best" CB will more then likely not be back next year and even if he is, he clearly is not an elite CB anymore and 2. he is a very small step behind Peterson and I honestly believe both of them are playing at a level that was better then Revis when he came out. Not to mention Peterson and Price played in the Big 12 and SEC compared to the Big East. It's much easier to find pass rushers then it is elite CB's. Think about the elite pass rushers in the NFL this year and take a look at where they came from. Then look at the Elite CB's and see where they came from. IMO we should go Prince/ Cameron Jordan then Von Miller.

if you have a decent-good qb and an ovr good offense, you will always look good.
clements is gaping hole itself, so i wont be afraid at all if he leaves...you will find good CBs on day 2 either.

I def. agree with this. Look at what Sam Bradford did with the Rams and honestly they're best WR was out most of the year. (Donnie Avery) As for finding good CB's on day 2. The drop off from Peterson/Prince to Brandon Harris or Aaron Williams is a lot bigger then the drop off from Miller to the next set of pass rushers. At least that's my opinion...

If Harbaugh likes a QB that he knows he can take in the 3rd round, then AND ONLY THEN would I pass on Green in favor of Miller because then we can easily grab another WR that can be very good in the 2nd round.

But a talent like Green, comes around ever so often. Pass rushers come out all the time, we have just failed to get them OR coach them. Look at Pittsburgh, you think all those guys were just BEASTLY coming out? besides Woodley, no they weren't but their scheme and coaching put them in great positions to make plays.

Maybe Fangio will look at our roster and say "hey, I can easily put Brooks and Lawson and maybe a late day pick in position to cause havoc". Never know but one thing is for certain, we SHOULD NOT pass on a player like Green who can change the game each time the ball is thrown his way.

I guess we're going to have to disagree on this one. I thought Clements did a great job on the slot receivers. As to the corners, I believe after Peterson and Prince there's a significant drop off.
