there is a lot better talent to be had in the 2nd instead of going after casey matthews. im not sure where he would land because of his speed but dontay moch would be a huge pickup prolly in the 3rd round.

I like it too...but feel it is unrealistic. If the Niners really want Dalton, they better grab him in the second. Late in the first round, you will likely see a run on QBs... By the time the Niners pick in the second round (45th pick overall), guys like Dalton and Devlin are going to get a hard look by teams even with good QBs because every team needs a good backup these days, especially QBs that are accurate.
Mobile, accurate QBs are the name of the game in the NFL now and everyone knows it. You can't keep guys like that a secret, particularly if they perform well at the Combine. Heck, if any of these teams - Carolina, Denver, Cincy, Arizona, Cleveland, Tennessee, Dallas, Washington, and Minnesota - don't take a QB in the first round, they all will look at QB as a position of need in the second.. All of these teams draft ahead of the Niners in the second round. If the Niners really want guys like Dalton or Devlin, they may even need to trade up in the second round to get one of them.
For this reason, prying Josh Johnson away from Tampa Bay for example, might be a lot harder than most think. There might be a lot of competition for a guy like him. If Harbaugh really wants him, he could cost the Niners a pretty high draft pick in next year's draft (a second or third probably, perhaps more).
Just saying...
Go Harbaugh!

I think in the 7th we should draft Greg Salas out of Hawaii. Chck him out a great addition to our receiving corps. He'll make the team.....trust.

McNabb was worse than Alex last year.

Ya defiantly wasn't his strongest performance. Still not a horrible stop gap. Is there someone else that gets you excited?

Let me beat you to the punch. I've been looking around and have come upon the option of Bruce Gradkowski. I think this is one of the more realistic scenarios that could provide adequate QB play while a rookie develops.
