Free Agency:
CB-Nnamdi Asomugha- We can dream but with the signing makes us an instant legit secondary
LB- Kameron Wimbley- Pass rusher we desperately need.
QB- Donnovon Mcnabb- Mr. WCO thats the system he thrives in
QB- Alex Smith- i know i know many people on the board will disagree with this move, but if harbaugh can develop him the right way. He might be able to salvage his career as a niner.
Draft:
1- Prince Amukamara Cb - Nebraska
Once a weakness is now a strength. Any team will have trouble passing on us. This will
solidify the defense.
2- Titus Young Wr - Boise state
Young brings the speedster we need. We get our slot man for years to come. Enough said.
3- Casey Matthews ILB Oregon
Yes Spikes had a great year but he wont be in the league for too much longer. Not really sold on Bowman. Maybe we can try him on the edge with his speed. Willis and Mathews in the middle can be a scary combo.
4A- Shane Vereen Rb Cal
Another Cal guy, i hope we dont pass on. He has good speed. Will compliment Gore very nicely.
4B- Thomas Keiser, DE/OLB Stanford
Needed depth at DE/OLB plus he played the 3-4 defense at Stanford .. Harbaugh and Fangio knows him pretty well, should be a good fit.
5- Owen Marecic FB standford
Knows the WCO. Great value here. And is a Harbaugh guy
6- Wes Byrum K Aurburn
Nedney is getting old and this kid was clutch throughout his college career.
7 BPA-
1 of the reasons i think we dont go QB in the 1st is because it would be considered a reach. Lets see what happens next year with Barkley and Luck coming out. Let me know what you guys think

You actually didn't go QB at all. And we're right back where we started, with Alex Smith at the helm.

Not just this board, I think even Alex Smith would disagree with this idea..

With your updated mock I would be elated except don't think Smith will be back. Not sure if we can sign Wimbley, McNabb and Scrabble all in one off season. Still would be really happy.

I dont think we go Qb in the draft because it would be a reach at any player we choose.. Im bringing in Mcnabb as the starter. And if anything alex would be a quality back up for us. Ill admit i want to see Alex succeed with us.

But you've got nothing but stop-gaps as QB's. And it also looks as if you plan on keeping David Carr too.
So our QB's would be:
McNabb
Smith
Carr
Horrible way to go into the season. Mocks aren't just what you want, but what you think the team will do, and I don't see us NOT picking a QB in the draft. If there's one thing that Harbaugh can do, and that's scouting QB's, whoever he picks would not be a reach IMO.

2 things that jump out to me.
#1 Alex Smith will not be a 49er next year. Both sides need to part ways and probably WANT to part ways.
#2 Titus Young is a big reach in the 2nd round and isn't even a position of need that early in the draft. BPA is one thing, when you reach for a position you don't really need...that's not a smart pick.

That is because QB is the most important position in football. This is the only position that teams will reach for.

the only way alex agrees to come back is if he is guaranteed starter and agrees with harbaughs direction and philosophy.....bringing in mcnabb will set the sail on the smith boat

Anything that includes Alex Smith as a Niner = epic fail.

My big beef with webzoners is they always want to rebuild, and not build.
2. A speedster WR in round 2, is this speedster any faster than Ted Ginn or Kyle Williams? Why use a second round pick on a person who might not make an impact.
Round 2, I love the mathews pick, I think upper third is where he will be drafted.
round 4, I have Cal season tickets, Shane vereen is not an upgrade over Gore, dixon or Westbrook (assuming he comes back). If westbrook does not go back then I am ok with vereen.
Why not go DL or DE or OLB with round 1. A fierce pass rush helps the corners

Unless its just blind homerism and an admitted pipe dream, Id love to know why every single mock offseason has Nnamdi coming here, out of the 31 other teams in the NFL, here, a team in the 9th year of rebuilding.

Very much a pipe dream, unless Jed throws that "Money is no object" line out there for free agency.
Other than that I don't see him coming here.
