I don't see it happening especially if we get Harbaugh. He runs a 3-4 in Stanford.

I am confused, is hiring the DC and other coaches up to the HC or GM?

They would have to discuss it. Technically, the HC chooses his staff though.

I'd much rather draft Robert Quinn.

yes. agreed. he is smaller than merriman. however, he has already showed that he can hold his own against "Big 12" O-tackles. that says alot. plus, a nfl strengh and conditioning coach could help him develop. maybe adding 8 ibs per year.

Here's how his measurables stack up to some dominant NFL pass rushers....

VON MILLER

Height: 6-3

Weight: 240

NFL PASS-RUSHERS

1. Clay Matthews (Packers)

Height: 6-3

Weight: 255

2010 sacks: 12.5

2. Cameron Wake ( Dolphins)

Height : 6-3

Weight: 250

2010 sacks: 14 (nfl best)

3. Shaun Phillips (chargers)

Height: 6-3

Weight: 250

2010 sacks: 11

as you can see, his measurables are similar

Nice work man! To say a 6-3 240+ OLB is to skinny and small is rediculous.

no it isnt ridiculous at all. Those guys all have 10-15 pounds of bulk on miller. thats alot. That extra muscle is very important. Miller needs that weight. He may have the height but doesnt have the weight. He may have the frame but he needs that weight to physically compete with an offensive tackle. Miller will get shoved off the line by an olinemen because he may not possess the strength.

Did you know Clay Matthews came out at 240? He's added 10-15 pounds in the time he's been in the league. Just FYI. Manny Lawson was 240 coming out and added 10 pounds as well. It's not uncommon at all.
Miller is a very good player.

People are scared of his size, just like they were with Dumervil. Someone will scoop him up later in the first and he'll be a steal for them.
he is more of a manny lawson then elvis dumervil. Yes I agree he is a better passrusher but he is tall and skinny, he is 6'3 240. Elvis is 5'11 250 something there is a big difference.

Lawson played DE in college and never played OLB while Miller played LB the whole time..........

this.

also, Miller won the freakin BUTKUS award. Manny hasn't won anything since winning the spelling bee in 5th grade!!!!

you must not have seen those kids in the bee....they were pretty scary

He has 10 sacks with a game left to play (2 sacks against the SOONERS)

Von Miller + Patrick Willis =

This is the next SHAWN MERRIMAN!!!

Tired of seeing opposing quaterbacks throw for 300 yds against our pathetic pass rush???

Tired of seeing Lawson and Haralson locked up in the arms of an O-TACis the name of the song freight train and who is the artist metallica? jus guessing pretty sik song!
Than draft VON MILLER!!!

Who sings the song in the video!?!?!?!

I agree. Try to convince someone in the mid 1st round to trade up for Dareus, Amukamara, or one of the QB's and draft Miller.

The guy is supposed to be 6ft 3, your making him sound like a midget. I don't think 6-3 and 240 or so pounds is small for a OLB

6'3" 240lbs isnt small. thats bigger than Willis.
if the niners do get him i would love for him to turn out as the pass rushing version of Willis

Manny Lawson has never weighed 250 in a game. His game weight may be 240 and more likely 235.

the question will be moving forward when he does add weight (which he most likely will) will he be able to be as explosive with the extra weight. For example manny lawson added 10 pounds and lost some of his explosiveness off the line.
I'm watching this lsu-aggie game and i notice that he doesn't run to the football if the play is away from his side of the field.

but,i still think we should draft him
Im on it. I was just watching some highlights and dude has a legit first step. Something that Lawson lacks and many pass rushers do. He has played at DE and OLB so he has a leg up and someone like Lawson when he came out. If he is projected to fall then trade down and get him. If they think we are in the right spot to get him I would take him

If we can keep A. Franklin, we will have three needs in the draft---QB, CB, and OLB.

My first inclination is to go for CB in the first, but with the numbers of underclass cornerbacks declaring, it might make sense to draft an OLB in the first.
Many scouting reports say he lacks lower body power. He has the frame to bulk up. I do not think there will be a major drop off in quickness. Players frequently add 10-15 lbs in an offseason which would bring him up to ~250. That is an adequate weight for a 3-4 OLB.

He has been very productive, elite, in fact, as a pass rusher in college. He would have a large impact on an aggressive, blitzing scheme. If it is possible to get him and Quinn, I would cream my pants. If we only get 1 of the 2, I would still be pretty excited.

An option is to trade back and get either a 2nd this year or a 1st next year with has a very strong QB class.
