The Screw McCloughan Mock Plan
Resign –
Walt Harris – CB
*Let’s take a vote. Who thinks Keith Smith should be on the roster instead of Walt Harris? Yep. f**k you McCloughan.
Barry Sims – OT/OG
*Right now, it looks like Sims may be going to the Skins. If so, again, f**k you McCloughan. Sims has spent his whole career in the bay area though. A reasonable offer to him should snag him for his final years in the league.
Free Agency –
Ryan Lilja – OG – Colts
*The Colts decided it was time to part ways with Lilja after giving him a lucrative contract extension last season. Statistically, he is a solid guard and a substantial upgrade to David Baas. A training camp competition of Baas and Lilja for the LG spot couldn’t hurt. Goodbye Tony Wragge or Cody Wallace.
Kirk Morrison – ILB – Raiders (49ers give up 3rd round draft pick to Raiders)
*Takeo Spikes isn’t getting any younger, and he wore down as the season progressed in 2009. Instead of having another Derek Smith fiesta, the 49ers need to be proactive. Morrison has the tackling ability, size, and playmaking skill to excel at the TED spot in the 3-4 defense. A 3rd round pick is highway robbery for Morrison.
NFL Draft –
R1: C.J. Spiller – RB/KR/WR – Clemson
*We all know about Spiller. Nuff said.
R1: Trent Williams – OT – Okahoma
*Again, we know about Williams. Nuff said.
R2: Chad Jones – S/KR – LSU
*Physical player that would be a perfect fit behind Lewis at SS. Tons of potential as a special teams player as well.
R3: Given up for Morrison
R4: A.J Edds – LB – Iowa
*A Clay Matthews type player, Edds has potential to unseat Haralson as the starter at OLB.
R5: Chris Marinelli – OT/OG – Stanford
*An underrated offensive linemen in this draft, Marinelli projects as a backup at RT and possibly RG.
R6: Trindon Holliday – RB/WR/KR/PR – LSU
*Holliday could go earlier, but he definitely a one-dimensional player at the pro level. Sink or swim type pick.
R7: Tim Hiller – QB – Western Mich.
*PS prospect. Intelligent player.

Morrison is not fit to play MLB in 4-3 let alone be a Ted LB in 3-4. He should be a WLB in 4-3. Yeah, he racks up a lot of tackles, but he misses so many tackles it's not even funny. Teams run quite a bit against Riaders, so Morrison gets plenty of opportunities. Not to mention, Raiders OLBs, especially Howard is even worse against the run - helping Morrison have huge totals.
Raiders tendered Morrison for 3rd so they could get rid of him. They could have tendered him for 2nd (at the same salary) but figured no one would give up a 2nd rounder for him.
I liked the first round picks, and Chad Jones is good as well. If we are plannin' to draft a SS - I rather go with Rolle in the 3rd.

Morrison is a joke of a linebacker. The guy is fast that's pretty much it. Every time I've seen a Raiders game which thankfully isn't too frequently he kept most of his tackles after the offensive player is behind him...dragging him down from behind.
He would get destroyed in a 3-4, especially at TED where he would have to eat up blockers so Willis could make the plays. I don't see Morrison doing that at all and you want to bring someone in to help make the players around him better not worse.

Even though I would like to draft a corner earlier that could take over for Clements should he be gone after this season, I like it.
Just one question though, why draft Spiller and Holliday? I mean I like both guys, but part of the biggest value for Spiller (at least initially) is that he can be the return guy, because he very likely is not going to get enough playing time on offense to justify his first round salary.

You are right that he needs to become better at wrapping the ball carrier up, but with so many opportunities surrounded with below average talent, I think the prob. of wiffing on tackles is higher.
I still believe he would be fine as a 3-4 TED, but I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that issue.
While I do like Rolle, Jones seems to be the combine beast type player that McCloughan would fall in love with. But I am glad you like some of the other picks.

Good question. Some times separate KR and PR duties like the 49ers did last year amongst different players. In addition, injuries may occur and more depth at these positions is necessary. Furthermore, if a guy like Spiller becomes too valuable (what if Gore goes down and Spiller explodes) to the offense, you want to find another person able to handle ST duties.
He certainly doesn't fit the mold of a McCloughan back, but once again, he can go f**k himself.

hilarious post...good stuff geek
I hate the raiders, therefore have never seen morrison play or even heard of him so I have no opinion on that trade.
Draft is solid, I love the influx of players on the Oline and Spiller and Holliday is good for reasons already stated.
I'd like to see us draft or pickup a mauler of a TE for our 4th and 1 type situations where we NEED to get that yard and need the big, strong bodies to get the push.

I am going to laugh my ass off when Spiller is taken in the top 10 and everyone here s**ts a brick and posts "noooooooooo" at the same time.
