Yeah same here! IMO it would be a huge relief to get an already proven OT. We wouldn't have to sit and hope one of the top 4 OTs would drop to us at 13. It gives us many more options come draft day.

49ers Trade the 17th Pick for Jared Gaither OT, Ravens
- Established OT
- Only 24 years old
- Can play LT or RT
1st Round: Trade Down into 20's- Brandon Graham, OLB Michigan
- Our OT need is already taken care of
- Allows us to trade down and pick up and extra second rounder while getting some much needed pass rush
2nd Round: Jahvid Best, RB CAL
- Very explosive change of pace back
- Return abilities
2nd Round (Acquired in Trade): Jon Asamoah, G Illinois
- Push Bass/Rachal for time right away
3rd Round: Reshad Jones, SS Georgia
- Mike Lewis eventual replacement either this year or next
4th Round: Mardy Gilyard, WR Cincinnati
- Solid receiver
- Also great return abilities
- Slower then expected 40 could mean he's available in the 4th
5th Round: Jamar Chaney, ILB Mississippi St.
- Big athletic ILB
- Can sit behind Spikes and learn this year while playing special teams
6th Round: Junior Gallete, OLB Stillman
- Athletic pass rushing project
7th Round: BPA
Thoughts?
I like that we get an OT. If we traded down into the 20's then I'd probably get our returner there..maybe get Arrelious Benn or get the best TE in this class Jermaine Gresham and let him compete for Walkers spot. Graham is a first rounder for sure but we're doing ok on our d-line and Balmer is still getting better. Why use a first rounder to compete there?
2nd round I'd get my rusher in Ricky Sapp if he was there. Not crazy about picking up another RB early. I'd much rather have a WR or even CB that could return like Perish Cox. I just think the need is greater at those positions. (so I like the Mardy G. pick)
I really like the Jon Asamoah pick. I like that you waited til the 3rd to get a safety. I think it's a deep class for safeties.
Nice Job

Not bad at all! I would be very happy with that draft.

Some thoughts:
1. Who do you think would trade their 20's something pick AND a 2nd round pick for the 17th pick?
2. What would you do if no-one wants to trade up to get that pick?

I love the picks!.... with that said I could just about guarantee that not a single one of those players (in the first 4 rounds), will fall to those picks...
