Does anyone actually believe we'll draft Iupati?

I honestly don't think we'll draft him or the other webzone favorite in Spiller.
My heart say yes but my gut says no. I think McL will take a RT and BPA other than OG. Although, it depends on FA and trade downs.

Unfortunately, I think krizay is right on both counts.

I think McCloughan will grab the best OT available at #13, then either use #16/17 to trade down and/or grab a defensive player.

E. Thomas or B. Graham perhaps? I would be upset at the Thomas pick given the depth at S, but wouldn't mind seeing Graham on our team.

For me though, I would be pissed as both Iupati and Spiller are my favs and I want at least one, damn it!

Yah, I can see us drafting a Safety or 3-4 OLB like Graham with that second 1st rounder (especially if we trade back). Graham wouldn't be a bad pick at all, but I don't think our pass rush is all that bad, at least not in comparison to our o-line and our lack of speed/playmaking ability on offense.

I'd be happy with Graham, but I'd be pissed at having to see a crappy offense for yet another year.

That's why I just don't see D in the first this year unless we do trade back, maybe. Like you said, I believe that the OLB rotation of Parys, Manny and Ahmad while adding Biggs solidifies our pass rushing squad, maybe another for depth and ST?

M. Lewis isn't retiring and will return so he's the starter and I just don't see anyone in this class unseating him.

Can I see Iupati or Williams or Bulaga unseat the current starters, hell yes in a heart beat. That is why I truly believe that Iupati after all the workouts will be high on Scotty's list especially since it looks like he can play ROT well.

You know me enough over the last three years at least to know how much I have been wanting a return specialist, last year's Maclin being one and now Spiller.

I would give that up for Williams and Iupati in a heartbeat, in a heartbeat!

That's saying a lot for me!

You know Ghost, I am curious to see your top 20 board after all the workouts. I would be curious to see if Iupati makes it there.

Seems likely Baas will be retained (not that he's any good, but who knows what the coaches think considering his play improved over the year and he was hurt to begin it), and we all know how McCloughan feels about guards, even if it was just one quote.

I am fairly sure one of the first round picks will be a tackle, if only because all our beat writers seem so certain about it. But with Iupati struggling at tackle in the Senior Bowl practices, I just don't see it happening.

Retained? For 1 year if that. Knowing the niners, they extend the guys they plan on keeping well before they get to their contract years. So I don't think Baas is in the niners future.

I'm a huge fan of Iupati and definitely see him as a legit top 20-25 prospect. I also wouldn't be upset in any way if we picked him and a RT in the 1st. I see the logic there.

I just have Spiller rated higher than Iupati, and I also don't think there would be a significant drop-off in terms of impact to our line if we picked a RT and Spiller in the 1st, then went with OGs like Pouncey (OG/OC), Asamoah, Jerry or Saffold in the 2nd.

I don't think we'll draft him. He can't play RT and we all know how McC feels about the value of guards.

We'll get a guard in the 2nd which will be ok because there are some studs coming out.
I dont think anybody has a problem if our draft went something like this, i mean we just need to focus on offence in the first round both of our picks, what we really need is explosiveness of offense and what better guy to have then Spiller, he can do pretty much everything, but my got still say scott will pick mays if hes still available by 17th pick but i hope al davis picks him in the first round haha

A. OT, Cj Spiller
B. OT, Iupati
C. OT, Haden

It will be very, very easy to keep Baas and Scott has expressed his personal doubts in Baas' ability to start. I read that clearly as Scott being open to an upgrade here, possibly in the 1st because we have 2 picks, and because of the pressure for him to succeed this off-season.

Baas would be a great backup (far better than Wragge IMO). Rachal turned into a stud guard the last half of the season. We get a new LG and a new RT and we're set on O-line.
