College FB Saturday: Prospect Watch (9/26/09)

I don't have as much time as I used to, so to compensate, I'll be picking 4 key games to watch for today, as well as recapping key performances from earlier today. So without further adue, here we go...

Game Notes
USF vs. Florida State - South Florida DE, George Selvie, has one sack so far today. He also injured his shoulder/arm.

UC vs. Fresno St. - Cincinnati WR, Marshawn Gilyard, (a favorite of mine) continues to dominate. Has 9 catches, 177 yards, 2 TDs now. Make no mistake, Pike's success is largely due to Gilyard's outstanding play.

Mississippi St. vs. LSU - 6 catches, 101 yards and 2 TDs for LSU wide-out Brandon LaFell.

Underclassman DE/OLB Prospect Jason Worilds (6-2 262 4.75) of Virginia Tech is having a great game against Miami. Has two sacks and a forced fumble so far.
Great info OTC!

No problemo. Just trying to help everyone out.
More quick notes:

-Tim Tebow taken to hospital after hit in the 3rd quarter.

-Close game between Iowa and Penn St. -- Currently Penn State leads 10-5. Ricky Stanzi was just intercepted.

-Texas Tech and #17 Houston tied at 7 with Houston driving, first and goal for them.
Thanks man, i missed the prospect watch the last few weeks.

do you think if crabby never signs we should look at lafell? i like his game a lot. also hope scotty is paying attention to these sack artists that could play olb.
No to Mike Tepper

Forget LaFell, go after Marshawn Gilyard from Cincinnati. He's a go-to guy who I feel is not only better than Brandon, he's more versatile as he can return kicks.

Eric Decker had another solid game...

Decker is a very good possession receiver. A lot like the Jordy Nelson, Austin Collie type of guy. Though most of his big games come against very weak competition.

As far as receivers go, the guys I really like are:

Seniors:
Cincinnati's Mardy Gilyard (obviously)
Jeremy Williams (Tulane) -- Had 10 catches for 222 yards and 2 TDs last week.
Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo) -- 1400 yards and 13 TDs last year, 441 and 3 TDs through four games so far this year.

With honorable mention to Taylor Price (Ohio) and Terrell Hudgins (Elon).

Underclassmen:
Arrelious Benn, 6-2 220 4.50 (Illinois)
Dez Bryant, 6-2 220 4.58 (Oklahoma St.)
Mike Williams, 6-2 212 4.49 (Syracuse)

I disagree, and a lot of it has to do with piss poor QB play.

Decker belongs with Manning and the Colts.

Which part do you disagree with? Funny you mention the Colts, where Collie is.

hmm...nvm. I guess I was mistaken.

Dude has solid games against big competition though.
What about this week? 3 Heavy weight matches. I picked the 5 top prospects.

LSU v. Georgia
WR Brandon LaFell (LSU), RB Charles Scott (LSU), OT Ciron Black (LSU), OLB Rennie Curran* (UGA), FS Chad Jones* (LSU)
-AJ Green (WR) is only a sophmore, but IMO he is a lock for top 10.

USC c. Cal
S Taylor Mays (USC), CB Syd'Quan Thompson (Cal), DT Tyson Alualu (Cal), RB Jahvid Best* (Cal), C Kristofer O'Dowd* (USC)

Oklahoma v. Miami

OT Trent Williams (OU), OT Jason Fox (Miami), DT Gerald McCoy* (OU), DT Allen Bailey* (Miami), RB Greg Cooper* (Miami)
