No Huddle Podcast: Matt Barrows discusses free agency and the draft

Mar 9, 2018 at 8:10 AM--

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee is back from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. The San Francisco 49ers beat writer joined Al Sacco and Zain Naqvi on the "No Huddle Podcast" to share his experience at the combine and discuss the team's first-round options in the draft.

Will the 49ers lean toward a pass rusher like Marcus Davenport of UTSA or Harold Landry of Boston College with the ninth-overall pick?

"It's become clear if you want a top pass rusher, you can't find them in free agency anymore," Barrows said. "It's got to be somebody that you draft or draft in the mid rounds and develop. I think it will be fun to see who the 49ers pick out of this draft class when all is said and done."

On Wednesday, the 49ers signed wide receiver Marquise Goodwin to a three-year extension. The guys discuss the importance of the signing and what fans can expect from Goodwin in 2018 with a healthy Pierre Garçon returning.

Plus, with free agency is less than a week away, Barrows provides his thoughts on potential 49ers targets like wide receiver Allen Robinson, cornerback Trumaine Johnson, and what the team might do at running back. What does the Los Angeles Rams' trades for cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib mean for the NFC West?
