The San Francisco 49ers were held out of the end zone in last week's win over the Chicago Bears. That hasn't been the case against the Houston Texans. Running back Carlos Hyde was the first to get into the end zone on a two-yard run in the second quarter.
Now, Jimmy Garoppolo has his first touchdown pass since being named the 49ers' starting quarterback. The score concluded a six-play, 85-yard drive and, following a successful extra point, gave the 49ers a 23-16 lead late in the third quarter.
Garoppolo had a touchdown pass two weeks ago in the closing seconds against the Seattle Seahawks but did so after going in for an injured C.J. Beathard. He was named the 49ers' starting quarterback two days later.
Here is the six-yard touchdown pass from Garoppolo to tight end Garrett Celek:

Silver: 49ers seek starting safety, explored Joey Bosa options
The San Francisco 49ers have been active in the first week of free agency, but their work isn't done yet. After narrowly missing out on a Super Bowl victory last season, the team knows it owns a championship-caliber roster and believes a few strategic adjustments could make all the difference.
According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers looked into strengthening their defensive backfield on Thursday, aiming to secure a potential starting safety and possibly a cornerback.
"With the safety market somewhat oversaturated, the Niners might be able to land a big name such as Justin Simmons (four

49ers attend Arizona pro day to watch Jordan Morgan
Nearly all NFL teams were represented at Arizona's pro day, with only three teams choosing to skip the event. The San Francisco 49ers were among those in attendance to scout the draft prospects, including potential first-round pick, tackle Jordan Morgan. The Niners currently hold 10 selections in the upcoming draft, with their first pick at No. 31 overall.
Of note, it wasn't just any 49ers scout present at Arizona's pro day. NFL Draft Diamonds reports that it was the team's director of college scouting. Tariq Ahmad held that position before recently being promoted, along with R.J. Gillen, to co-directors of player personnel. It's assumed that NFL Draft Diamonds meant one of these two
