@LombardiHimselfThe best run-defending cornerback in football remains Charvarius Ward. 0 missed tackles, highest grade, 3.3% stop rate. Hard to overstate how important this is to the 49ers' defensive scheme.Ward has been good in coverage, too

@LombardiHimselfThe Saints hadnt been shut out in 332 games since they played the 49ers to close the 2001 season. SF ended that streak, the NFLs longest active one, on Sunday with a clutch performance that includes thoughts of a goal-line suplex: theathletic.com/3942808/2022/1...

@LombardiHimselfUnheralded hero for the 49ers: Hassan Ridgeway. His hustle dislodged the ball from Saints TE Juwan Johnson after Kamara's fumble. New Orleans would've had a TD if Ridgeway hadn't hit Johnson. Instead, 49ers recovered the fumble to preserve the shutout

@nwagonerRe-watching yesterday's game. Perhaps an unpopular opinion on this website: Understand the frustration with #49ers offense but a mostly healthy Saints defense is pretty loaded. Jordan, Davenport, Davis, Mathieu, Adebo, all good players. Maybe down from '21 but talent still there.

@LombardiHimselfThe 49ers' O-line struggles limited their dynamism. But they didn't dynamism with the defense delivering at that level. All SF needed was mistake-free ball, and its offensive skill position players delivered that

@LombardiHimselfWhen we talk about the potentially adverse effects of a short week/altitude/etc., we can expect trench play to be most affected. Therefore, maybe it's not surprising that the 49ers' O-line played its worst game (vs a good Saints' D-line) and that SF's D-line had only 1 sack
-

@LombardiHimself49ers allowed 20 pressures, 7 QB hits vs Saints both season highs. 13 of those pressures, 5 of those hits came from DTs.Good news: Interior pressure had been Garoppolo's kryptonite in past. He delivered a good mistake-free game in spite of it. But SF must protect him better
