Defensive lineman Mykel Williams is officially on the 49ers’ 53-man roster and is expected to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers created the roster opening to activate Williams from the physically-unable-to-perform list with the release of defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo.
On Saturday, the 49ers re-signed Okoronkwo to the practice squad and elevated him to be available to play against the Seahawks, too.
The team also elevated tight end Jack Stoll, who is scheduled to make his 49ers debut on Sunday. Stoll, 28, will see action in his sixth NFL season. He previously played 57 games over four seasons with Philadelphia, as well as four games with Miami and 15 games last year with New Orleans.
Stoll was elevated as the 49ers look to compensate for the absence of fullback Kyle Juszczyk, whom the 49ers ruled out for the game against Seattle due to a knee injury.
Stoll has 28 career receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown.
Okoronkwo, an eight-year veteran, may have lost his spot on the 49ers’ 53-man roster but he is likely to remain in the team’s nine-player defensive line rotation. More info on: Kyle Juszczyk, Ogbo Okoronkwo, Jack Stoll, Mykel Williams
