SANTA CLARA — Coach Kyle Shanahan was hired to provide analysis for NBC Sports on the pregame show prior to Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium. He did not have a whole lot to offer when it came to suggestions for how the New England Patriots could be successful against the Seattle Seahawks’ defense.
“I know you guys want my expert opinion, but I haven’t scored a touchdown on these guys the last two times I’ve seen them,” Shanahan said in his debut as an analyst.
Well, Shanahan and the 49ers will get their first chance of a new season to find some answers against the Seahawks when the team’s square off Sunday in a key NFC West matchup.
Shanahan was asked again for his expert analysis on this week’s edition of “49ers Game Plan.”
His answer sounded a lot like it did on Super Bowl Sunday.
“That was an easy way for me to not have to say too much,” Shanahan said. “But I meant what I said. One, because it was a fact. But, two, because that’s how good of a defense they are. It’s tough to score touchdowns on this team.”
