Quarterback Brock Purdy’s status remains up in the air for the 49ers’ Week 9 game against the New York Giants, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday.“It’s too early to say. I don’t think it’s a long shot, but I know he’s doing better,” Shanahan said of Purdy.The 49ers return to action on Sunday against the Giants, who are 2-6 on the season after their 38-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The artificial playing surface at the Giants’ home stadium, MetLife Stadium, will have no impact on the decision, Shanahan said.Purdy has missed the past four games after aggravating an injury to his right big toe.He originally sustained the “turf toe” injury—or a hyperextended toe—in the 49ers’ Week 1 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
