In the midst of a decorated season in which defensive end Nick Bosa collected 21 TFL, 15.5 sacks, and forced 4 fumbles, it's hard to believe that the star was out with a torn ACL just one year ago. The injury came Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season in a matchup against the New York Jets. Bosa told NFL Network that he immediately knew he'd suffered a serious injury after the tear happened, "I knew for sure. I think you want to fake your mind into thinking that you're okay and try and take those steps but I knew exactly what happened and that it was going to be a long road." An important part of the recovery process, Bosa and GM John Lynch agree, was the dietary restrictions placed on him throughout the year. "[The diet] is definitely helping. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided status updates for a number of players after practice on Friday, including quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo—but he still stopped short of naming him the starter for this weekend's game against the Los Angeles Rams (Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET/1:25 p.m. PT, FOX). Shanahan stuck to his stance of not announcing a starter between Garoppolo and rookie Trey Lance in order to give Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris more to think about, but he was clearly encouraged with what he saw from Garoppolo at practice throughout the week after missing last Sunday's start against the Houston Texans with a thumb injury. "He had a good week—a good week of practice when he was in there. I feel good with where he's at right now," Shanahan

P Mitch Wishnowsky Wishnowsky was on the receiving end of an uncalled helmet-to-helmet hit during a punt return. He was evaluated for a concussion in the blue medical tent
