Steelers end 49ers' historic streak that started last season
By Rohan Chakravarthi

The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the league's most physically imposing teams since head coach Kyle Shanahan arrived in 2017, which has only furthered in recent years with the team consistently building around their core to fit the culture.
That has led to sustained success for the 49ers, and not so much for their opponents, at least in a certain way back in 2022.
Are the 49ers the best team in the NFL after Rams win?
Last year, the 49ers held an impressive streak; opponents went 0-15 in games the following week after facing the 49ers, which was a

Kyle Shanahan reveals 49ers contract extensions were finalized before the season

Last week, the San Francisco 49ers announced they had signed head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch to multi-year contract extensions, keeping the team's brain trust together for the foreseeable future. However, Shanahan revealed that the deals had been finalized for a while.
"We did it before the Pittsburgh game (Week 1), so I had already celebrated with my family and stuff like that, which is huge," Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday. "I feel very grateful just being a coach anywhere for a long time. I know what that means, and I'm extremely grateful for that, to have that opportunity, and mainly for my family to be somewhere for so long, which is cool."

49ers' Kyle Shanahan on what's different about Deebo Samuel this season
By David Bonilla

This past offseason, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel had a very productive meeting with his head coach, Kyle Shanahan. On Tuesday, Shanahan admitted to initiating the conversation, knowing that his star receiver could do much more than he showed in 2022.
"Deebo comes to talk a lot, but I'd say I started that conversation a little bit," Shanahan told reporters.
Samuel held out for a new contract last offseason, even asking to be traded ahead of the draft. The rift between player and team eventually ended that July, at the start of training camp. By then, the receiver had already missed much of the offseason.
Samuel was coming off a breakout 2021 campaign that saw the player rack up 1,770 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns. He

49ers Notebook: Deebo is no longer "awful"; Ronnie Bell makes a splash; J.J. Watt praises Niners; Captain Andrew Luck makes Levi's cameo

Thursday night was a fun one at Levi's Stadium, where the San Francisco 49ers cruised to a 30-12 victory over the visiting New York Giants. It was a night that saw wide receiver Deebo Samuel declare himself as officially out of "awful" mode, running back Christian McCaffrey reach milestones, wide receiver Ronnie Bell create some lasting memories, and -- of all things -- Andrew Luck making a return to an NFL field (in full Civil War costume) to take part in a game of trivia.
Let's recap all that and more in this version of 49ers Notebook.
