Deebo Samuel to Miss at Least Next Two Games; Jeff Wilson Jr. Goes to IR

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. It was just two short years ago that WR Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers prior to draft day, only for cooler heads to prevail and eventually agree to a new deal. Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night. According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, the San Francisco 49ers hosted former Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson on a pre-draft visit this week. Wilson registered 41 receptions for 617 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games as a senior in 2023, per Sports Reference. His best statistical season came in 2022 when he hauled in 43 passes for 897 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Throughout his collegiate career, Wilson caught 102 passes for 1,757 yards with eight touchdowns over four seasons. He spent his first two seasons with Arizona State before transferring to Florida

Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group caught up with Brock Purdy over the weekend as the San Francisco 49ers quarterback hosted his inaugural youth football camp at Levi's Stadium. Today, Purdy and most of his teammates will report to the team for the start of the offseason program, which will be limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation over the next couple of weeks. Despite initial reports, two draft prospects who were set to visit the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft ultimately did not meet with the team. Matt Barrows of The Athletic revealed that former USC wide receiver Brenden Rice and former Oregon safety Jamal Hill didn't end up visiting the Bay Area organization. Barrows wrote, "Meanwhile, a report in March indicated that USC receiver Brenden Rice, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, would visit the 49ers, but he didn't end up coming, according to two league sources."
