The 49ers announced center Jake Brendel has opted out of the 2020 season. He joins offensive lineman Shon Coleman in deciding at the deadline. The 49ers also saw receiver Travis Benjamin opt out. 49ers announce 13 training camp practices, make tickets available to fans

The San Francisco 49ers made tickets to 13 training camp practices available to fans, including an August 7 practice at Levi's Stadium which has been declared "Dwight Clark Day." Below is the upcoming practice schedule. Players are scheduled to report to Santa Clara on Tuesday. Jimmy Garoppolo is slated to be the Week 1 starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers when they travel to Detroit to play the Lions. Ex-49ers WR Jordan Matthews working out with George Kittle as he converts to TE

After playing in the NFL as a wide receiver since 2014, Jordan Matthews is working on converting to a tight end. He had two stints with the San Francisco 49ers from 2019-20. Matthews will participate in the free-agent tryouts put on by HUB Football in San Diego on Sunday. The workout will take place in front of NFL, CFL, USFL, and USA Rugby scouts. ESPN's Turron Davenport reported last month that, at the time, Matthews had added 30 pounds during the transition to tight end. HUB listed Matthews at 235 on its roster of attendees.
