San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel had surgery last week after suffering a Jones fracture in his left foot. While still at the hospital, he said the procedure "went perfect," and provided an update on Wednesday during a lengthy Instagram discussion with @OurSf49ers.

Samuel shared that his foot is doing well, and the injury occurred as he ran a route during the player-organized workouts in Tennessee. The update comes courtesy of David Lombardi of The Athletic.

The original estimate by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, who first reported the injury, had Samuel missing 12 to 16 weeks. Samuel said he expects to be back in 10 weeks and in time for the start of the regular season.

Samuel caught 57 receptions for 802 receiving yards and three touchdowns through 15 regular-season games during his rookie season in 2019. He added 10 receptions for 127 yards through three playoff games, including a five-catch, 39-receiving-yard performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.
