The 49ers, who are in desperate need of cornerback depth, will host versatile Eagles defensive back Jaylen Watkins on a free-agent visit Wednesday, the NFL Network reported. Watkins, 25, has played safety and both cornerback spots, in the slot and outside, and been a core special-teams player since he was selected in the fourth round in 2014. In his 36-game, five-start career, Watkins has eight pass-breakups and no interceptions. He is the half-brother of Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Watkins was a restricted free agent, but the Eagles chose to let him reach the open market rather than extending an original-round tender of $1.9 million.
