Did uncalled holding penalties help the San Francisco 49ers en route to their big offensive performance against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday? Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer seems to think so. Zimmer told reporters after his team's 34-26 loss to the 49ers at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday that the 49ers were holding with frequency throughout the game and that officials weren't consistent in calling penalties. Zimmer made the comments after being asked about runs made by 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who had six carries for 66 yards and two touchdowns during the game. "I think we misaligned on that one (run). The other ones were -- these guys hold all the time, so they're grabbing us around the waist, grabbing our backs," Zimmer said. "The

Deebo Samuel has become the first San Francisco 49ers wide receiver to surpass 1,000 receiving yards since 2014. The third-year wideout reached the milestone during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. The last 49ers wide receiver to accomplish the feat was Anquan Boldin, who recorded 1,062 receiving yards with the team in 2014. Tight end George Kittle registered over 1,000 receiving yards in 2018 and 2019, but Samuel is the first 49ers wideout to do so since Boldin. Samuel entered Week 12 with 994 receiving yards and five touchdowns, needing just six yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark. The reception that put him over was a 12-yard catch off a Jimmy Garoppolo pass. As of this post, Samuel also has 72 rushing yards and two rushing

Why Kyle Shanahan didn't give Trey Lance more playing time during 49ers-Jaguars

During Sunday's victory against the Jaguars, 49ers quarterback Trey Lance got his first live snaps since his first NFL start in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals, although most of them were handoffs. While the game seemed out of reach for much of the fourth quarter, head coach Kyle Shanahan elected not to put his rookie into the game to gain some of that "game-time" experience that Shanahan alluded to last week. Lance trotted out for the first time in over a month during the 49ers last offensive series, in which he handed the ball off twice, rushed once, and kneeled twice to end the game. When asked about whether Shanahan had any thoughts
