Oct 2, 2017 at 5:00 PM--

Kyle Shanahan insists the 49ers don't have a quarterback controversy: Brian Hoyer is their starter. Rookie C.J. Beathard remains the backup. "I don't look at it like it's Brian vs. C.J. right now," Shanahan said, via Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. "I look at it as 'What's best for our team right now?' [more]

49ers WR Deebo Samuel safe from being traded...for now

By Marc Adams

Rumors were swirling leading up to the NFL Draft, and even throughout the first round. Would the San Francisco 49ers trade away one of their star wide receivers, Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk? I never felt like they would trade either of them. Not because I have any inside information, but because it never made sense. When you've come so close to winning a Super Bowl, shouldn't you bring everyone back and give it another shot? The week leading up to the draft was interesting. The reports from Mike Silver alone kept things interesting. Earlier in the week, the San Francisco Chronicle columnist reported that Samuel had been assured he wasn't being traded. Later, Silver changed his tune, suggesting Samuel very well could be moved. Then after the 49ers drafted Florida WR Ricky

Reflecting on Day 1's events, Lynch was questioned about the team's approach for the remaining six rounds. "Well, we will see," Lynch responded thoughtfully, trying not to reveal too much. "We'll get a good sleep right now. We'll wake up. Tomorrow will be a busy day and a fun day. We've got a lot of picks. We just got to make them count; all of them count." San Francisco has nine more draft picks, barring any trades. The team's next pick is currently the 63rd overall selection toward the end of the second

By Marc Adams

We are less than one week away from the NFL Draft, and the San Francisco 49ers have their first day-one draft pick since 2021. That was the year they selected QB Trey Lance number three overall. The trade-up to get Lance cost the 49ers their first-round picks in 2022 and 2023. And now that they are back in the first round, at pick 31, fans are anxious to see what the team does with the pick. And with former assistant GM, Adam Peters, now in Washington, it will be interesting to see how well the 49ers draft without Peters in the room. We looked back at the seven drafts GM John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan have led to see what information we could pull from those drafts. There were plenty of hits, plenty of misses, and a few surprises along the way. The draft picks are
