I'd love to trade for Wilson, but only because he's young, but this news has me optimistic that Evans' injury won't be an issue down the road. And if, by some chance, Stribling pans out as a great WR, its even better. I'm basically writing Ricky off at this point. Is there a junkyard that can come pick him up?
Interesting replies on that post. One guy mentioned Xavier Hutchinson and others agreeing with Maiacco that they are done with big names. I think there is a ton of speculation going on and I was personally surprised they got Buckner back. I give up in trying to think through this. Time to munch the popcorn so to say and see what the 49ers do if they do anything else. I don't think they are done but man, if they can get Mack they should get him. I don't count on Bosa to stay injury free anymore and their dline just cannot pressure against solid to excellent olines without another dominate edge there. I also fear for WR because the current crop, even when they come back I don't think will stay injury free. Oh well, time to wait and see . . .

To be fair no one else is in the same spot we are. Multiple recent Super Bowl losses that we could've won. Aging roster. Very good team this year. QB signed long term. Cap room for multiple additions. Hit on late round picks.

Lynch should be going all in this year. We don't need a first round pick next year, it's going to be 25-32 range and the hit rate with this regime and league wide in general is low.

Even when Bosa comes back, we need edge rush help. We have no depth whatsoever there. Our WR corps is full of guys who always have nagging injuries in Evans/Deebo. God forbid something happens to McCaffrey.
Someone else said it earlier somewhere on here. We need a top tier WR who can handle man coverage. Evans is very good but is a plodding and contested catch guy. He's not creating separation nor is Deebo. If we get into a situation where Evans is hurt and we are relying on Deebo to beat man coverage and/or run a full route tree, we're f@cked. If Evans is out or limited vs someone like Seattle in the playoffs, we're going home.

Go get Wilson for whatever it costs.
What does all this mean for the long term? The roster is old at FB, TE, WR, DE, and Oline.
You need to find replacement for Puni if he leaves for FA, Trent, Juice, Kittle, Evans, Bosa and so on. Youll need picks eventually.

Matt Maiocco isn't always right, he knows just as much as us fans. Sure he's talked to Lynch, Shanahan and players but they aren't gonna tell him s**t. Not once did I see Maiocco break news like Schefter or Rapapport has. Matter of fact he only retweets their reports.

Its not old at DE.
We're lucky that Deforest Buckner traded himself to us or else we might not have done anything at the trade deadline.
I wouldn't even call trading a 4th for Buckner a blockbuster trade.
What would Thomas Jr cost us realistically?

I kinda like him as a fit to play the former Aiyuk role. Helps us now and in the future so it's a solid option IMO.

Think he will bring something different for us and ensure other guys end up being left open.
who are the young players we can build on?

purdy
black (not sure thing)
stribling (not sure)
puni
height
halton
dugger (not sure)
green
lenoir
mustapha

while I agree that we need to go all in, want to state that is not a team that has a bright future ahead in most positions except qb, db and dline

It's not really s**tting on him. lol
Just saying just because he's a beat writer, doesn't mean his word is law.
