Why would John Cena lose the title right away? I didn't realize EC is on Sunday. Why even win it at the RR?

So apparently Finn Balor was supposed to be #30 in the rumble and would eliminate Undertaker to set up a WM match but he wasn't medically cleared.

The narrative I've heard was that they wanted to push Orton and the only way they could get the crowd in his favor was to put Reigns in at #30. Plus Dave Meltzer reported Vince wanted to push the Taker/Reigns match for WM and this was one way to start it.

Don't know how effective Finn would have looked had he been cleared only days for the RR. The dude still hasn't begun in-ring work and probably won't until March, if he is lucky to be cleared.

They're not going to waste Cena passing the torch on Bray Wyatt. That'll be phase 4 of the never ending attempt to get Roman over.
