shocked too... Brian Bowles just has too much power! I wanted to see more replays though lol even the announcer sounded shocked

Good event overall by the WEC a lot of very close matches...

damn, and I missed it! Torres should of lost by decision to that Japanese dude he fought not too long ago. Dont remember his name, but Torres clearly lost and still got the win.

man, this penn vs florian fight is one boring ass one.

Why cause BJ whooped Ben Still...er.....I mean Kenny Florian's ass!!!

Look at eachother, touch hands, florian legkicks, florian pushes penn to the cage, dry humps him, single leg, penn hammerfists, florian backs out.

This s**t went on for 759 rounds before BJ penn finally went for the double leg. GAAAAAAWDDD. Just plain ol useless.

waddup brew!!!!

it was boring 'cause BJ was toying with him for three rounds just to show off his new strength/conditioning program. didn't wanna do months of cardio work for a 1min fight (which it could have been, LOL). Penn's corner man was telling him before the 4th that he had a lot of chances to explode on him and to just do it already next time he got a chance.

LINK TO A.SILVA VS FORREST

Tell me some sh*t wasn't going on!

Silva with his hands down?!!

WTF?

I either suspect Griffin knew he was gonna get ko'ed sooner or later so he sold a fake ko

or he just got paid off. I dunno.
either way....smh

It's pretty simple...

Forrest doesn't have the hand speed to trade punches with Silva who also has way more power and precision.

Rampage didn't have any hand speed or precision...nowhere near the level of Silva's. Bonnar was a good striker but not fast enough.

Even Rashad Evans who got killed by Machida doesn't have the striking ability of a Silva.

Point is, Rampage, Evans and Bonnar all have knockout power, and Griffin took much more damage fighting them than he did with Silva. I won't deny Silva has knockout power either, but Griffin does have a much tougher chin than what he showed. Griffin took a bigger shot when he was knocked down his second time, Anderson didn't even move his hips when he threw that jab, it was a straight jab.

And how do you just stand up and run away right after he was knocked out, the way he made it look. Few of my friends I was watching the fight with last night who fight in MMA (Rumble on the Rock) all agreed that fight was such a phony and fixed.

Griffin took out Rampage's KO power with leg kicks. Evans knocked Griffin out, and Bonnar hasn't knocked anyone out. I think it's safe to say that Griffin hadn't experienced real KO power like what Silva threw at him.

As for the storming out, I think he was just humiliated. He knew Silva made him look really bad and he didn't want to stick around any longer. I see no reason for the UFC, Griffin, or Silva to throw the fight. Nothing was gained, nothing was lost.

Your kidding me right, real KO power like Silva, is Silva all of sudden Superman?? Even Chris Leban took more than what Silva dished out to Griffin. Griffin has seen far more damage and tolerated much more than just those three knockdowns last night. Silva's short jab didn't even follow through. Even experienced fighters I watched with in Hawaii, question, if someone knocks you down twice, why would you still stand and strike?? Makes no sense at all, especially if you've got the ground skills like Griffin does and he did not shoot in, not once.

You guys have your own opinion on this, I have mine. And I'll leave it at that.

As for the reason Griffin would fix his own fight....simple, money. Money is the cause behind everything.

Not sure where you've been but Silva's been superman for a while now. Its really a pretty simple concept. Forrest was out on his feet after the 2nd knockdown and it didnt take a lot to floor him for the 3rd time. Ive seen boxers go down from getting hit on the shoulder after being rocked 20 seconds earlier.

Taking 3 flush shots from the best striker in the world really isnt that bad. Ask James Irvin it only took 1 to knock him the f**k out.

Your attitude is a testament to how good Silva really is. He beat Forrest sooooo badly people cant/wont believe it.

Actually Griffin was still aggressive after the second knockdown, and well recovered from it. James Irvin wasn't knocked out by that one punch just off balance by his right leg caught from a kick and knocked down from a punch. Irvin wasn't knocked out till after the flurry of punches he took while he was on the ground. Didn't see any short jabs knock down Dan Henderson or Patrick Cote.

And again, I'm not denying Silva's knockout power or how good he is. Its just that I've seen Griffin handle much more damage....how many times to I have to repeat this??

But anyway, I'm done discussing it, you guys believe what you want as I will too.

BJ won that's all that matters.

Update on Forrest Griffin (who was absent from the post-fight press conference) from the UG:

"I heard his jaw was dislocated very early in the fight…then he took several more punches to the jaw. Apparently he can’t hear out of the ear on that side either. He left the octagon because he needed medical attention asap. At first they thought his jaw was broken, then said it was dislocated."

[UPDATE] - Confirmed by telegraph.co.uk:

"Griffin had been taken to the hospital for checks, unable to hear in one ear, and in order to get his jaw checked."

I stand corrected. I was wrong, thanks for the closure though. Thanks TheGoldStandard!!!

And the drama continues...

From MMAweekly:

Reports surfaced on Sunday that Griffin had suffered a jaw injury and that was the reason for his hasty exit, but MMAWeekly.com was able to confirm with representatives from Zinkin Entertainment, Griffin's management group, that he is physically fine following the Saturday night fight.

Griffin suffered no broken jaw and he is physically okay, said the Zinkin representative, but emotionally he is definitely not dealing well with the loss.
This guy's point of view makes sense. It's from goallineblitz.com:

Just watched it again. I don't believe that he was waving Silva off like I originally thought. He got tagged, he put his hands up to defend himself, and the ref stopped the fight. He didn't quit. He wasn't out but he was clearly dazed. When he shook it off and cleared up, he was embarrassed at his performance or just the fact that he got knocked out the way he did and he bolted. That's my opinion on the situation now. And barring some report coming out that Griffin leaked the rumor that he was injured, I can't hold anything he did against him. Just goes to show ya how important a second viewing of a fight can be
the very thought that the griffin/silva fight was a fix, is ridiculous.

You think I'm the only one that thought that.

I can show you a 13 page thread on if it was fixed or not. The people that say your crazy if you think it was fixed only attack the posters who think it was, instead of giving educated reason's why it isn't and vice versa.

But what's also funny to me now is that there's mix reports on this fight.

OMG people act like a fight can't be fixed, like they could tell if one was.

I gave my reason's why I thought it was, and I'll leave it at that.
Well, I'm over it.

What's next?

The TUF ?

When does that start ? this Wednesday right?

Aug. 29th, Couture vs. Nogueira main event, but I'm actually looking forward to a Maia vs. Marquardt. Would love to see Maia vs. Anderson before he moves up to 205. Thiaga Silva vs. Keith Jardine, I think Silva is gonna terrorize Jardine.

so was the Kimbo Slice / Petruzelli fight fixed also? There's no way Kimbo should of been KO'd by that punch either. It happens.

Does TUF really start this Wednesday???

Like TonyS said Syber, I'm over it
. I completely loss respect for Griffin as a fighter though, not a fan. I expected a better fight that's all.

But I thought TUF started in September??
I thought it was sept. too. Starks is lying again.

"Premieres Wednesday, September 16 at 10pm ET/PT on Spike TV"

Guess it's another wednesday night of Brooke Knows Best.

Kolohe, you don't think there's any merit to the quote I posted above about watching the fight a second time? You can strongly argue that Forrest was dazed and put his hand up in defense and the ref called it there.

Anyway, if it's money as you say...money for Griffin or for the UFC or did he have his hands tied?

Griffin is a top 10 New York Times best selling author. He probably made a cool couple mil off his book.
